Print & Mail Production Operator / Machine Operator
Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (Weekends off)
Location: Rochester, NY – On-site
Requirement: Valid Driver's License
About the Role
Mailstar is a growing print and direct mail production company serving clients across the country. We are looking for an experienced, dependable Print & Mail Production Operator to join our production team.
This is a hands-on position operating commercial printing, mailing, and finishing equipment to produce high-volume print and direct mail projects. We're especially interested in candidates with previous experience in commercial printing, direct mail, bindery/finishing, or production equipment operation.
For experienced candidates, we're looking for someone who can bring their existing production knowledge to the team, take ownership of jobs and equipment, troubleshoot issues, and help keep work moving efficiently through production.
We are also willing to train a strong candidate with relevant machine operation or manufacturing experience who demonstrates excellent mechanical aptitude, reliability, and attention to detail.
What You'll Do
- Set up, operate, and monitor automated print, mailing, and finishing equipment
- Run production jobs according to job specifications, quantities, and deadlines
- Perform equipment setups, adjustments, and changeovers between jobs
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues as they arise
- Monitor output and perform regular quality-control checks for accuracy and consistency
- Load paper, envelopes, inserts, and other production materials
- Complete, package, and prepare finished print and mail jobs for delivery or shipment
- Maintain accurate job counts and production records
- Perform routine operator maintenance and help keep equipment in good working condition
- Work closely with other production team members to prioritize jobs and meet customer deadlines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment
What We're Looking For
Previous commercial print or direct mail production experience is strongly preferred.
Relevant experience may include:
- Commercial digital or offset printing
- Direct mail production
- Inserter operation and mail inserting equipment
- Bindery and print finishing equipment
- Digital production presses
- Paper handling, cutting, folding, or other finishing operations
- USPS bulk mail preparation or postal production workflows
- High-volume machine operation or manufacturing
We're particularly interested in experienced operators who are comfortable setting up equipment, running jobs independently, identifying problems, making adjustments, and maintaining quality throughout a production run.
Candidates coming from other production or manufacturing environments may also be considered if they have strong mechanical aptitude and experience operating or troubleshooting production equipment.
What This Job Is Like
This is a hands-on production-floor position, not an office job.
You'll spend most of the day standing and working directly with production equipment. The pace can move quickly, particularly during busy mailing seasons, and priorities may change throughout the day as jobs move through production.
The position requires the ability to lift and move paper, mail trays, and production materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Success in this role requires someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently without sacrificing quality.

- Weekends off
- Overtime during peak production periods
- Paid time off
- 401(k) matching
- Bonus pay opportunities
- Paid training on Mailstar's specific equipment and processes
