Bowers CPA is a growing public accounting firm in Midcoast Maine seeking a motivated CPA, Staff Accountant, or experienced Bookkeeper to join our team full-time. What You'll Do
You'll play an important role in helping businesses and individuals stay financially organized and compliant.
Responsibilities include:
- Full-cycle bookkeeping for business clients
- Bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
- Payroll processing and payroll tax reporting
- Preparing monthly and year-end financial statements
- General ledger maintenance and journal entries
- Assisting clients with QuickBooks Online and Desktop
- Communicating directly with clients regarding bookkeeping and accounting needs
- Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
- Working alongside our tax professionals during tax season
- Maintaining accurate and confidential financial records
Tax Preparation Training
Experience preparing tax returns is preferred but not required.
We believe in developing great accountants. If you have a strong bookkeeping or accounting background but little or no tax preparation experience, we'll provide comprehensive training and mentorship in preparing:
- Individual tax returns (Form 1040)
- Business tax returns
- Corporate and partnership tax returns
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in expanding their accounting career into public accounting and tax services.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who is:
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Experienced Bookkeeper or Staff Accountant with strong accounting knowledge
- Proficient with QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Professional and friendly when communicating with clients
- Able to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Eager to learn and grow professionally
