Overview
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Interior Design Assistant to support our design team in creating innovative and functional interior spaces. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate on diverse projects, including remodeling, furniture and accessory and construction. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a keen eye for aesthetics, and a passion for interior design. This paid position is perfect for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the interior design industry while contributing to high-quality projects. Work Hours are from 9:30-6:30 Monday thru Friday. This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. Please read thru entire job description before submitting resume for consideration.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing design concepts using software such as Powerpoint and other design software
Assist Principal Designer with design projects
Support project management tasks including scheduling, picking up of samples and communicating with clients as well as vendors
Collaborate with vendors and contractors on remodeling, construction and furniture/accessory purchases
Conduct research on color theory, lighting solutions, materials, and finishes to inform design decisions
Assist with site visits to ensure project specifications are met during renovation or remodeling phases
Help prepare contracts and proposals for clients while maintaining accurate documentation
Support the team in managing multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
Ability to lift items and be physically sound to do home installs as these can be labor intensive

Experience

Must have at least 10 years relevant work experience. Priority given to those who have Sales Support, Interior Design Trade experience but hard work and grit are the most important.
Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suite is helpful but not required
Knowledge of CAD drafting techniques and interior design principles is helpful
Familiarity with lighting design, lighting sales, remodeling, construction processes, and budgeting is helpful
Must be physically fit to do lifting and moving/carrying items for home installations
Experience with project management tools or methodologies is a plus
Ability to follow direction of Principal Designer is required
Prior internship or work experience in interior design or related fields will be considered an asset
Mental toughness is key. This work can be hard or simple depending on your mindset and your ability to perserve
Workflow changes daily as no two projects are the same so you must be flexible
Required to report to office daily
Must have a reliable vehicle to run errands when needed
Must be able to travel to jobsites/installs for out of town clients

This position provides an excellent platform for aspiring interior designers and/or assistants to develop technical skills while gaining practical experience across various aspects of interior projects.
