TruVet Specialty & Emergency Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Cardiology Technician (licensed RVT or highly experienced Veterinary Assistant) to join our brand-new Cardiology Department. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys specialty medicine, has a passion for cardiovascular patient care, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
As a member of our cardiology team, you will work alongside our Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologist to provide advanced diagnostic testing, patient monitoring, and exceptional client education. What You'll Do
In this role, you will work closely with our Cardiology Veterinarian and specialty teams to provide exceptional care for patients with cardiac disease.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting cardiology consultations, recheck appointments, and inpatient evaluations
- Assisting with echocardiograms, electrocardiograms (ECGs), Holter monitor placement, blood pressure measurements, and other cardiac diagnostics
- Preparing patients for advanced cardiac imaging and diagnostic procedures
- Monitoring patients during diagnostic procedures, sedation, and recovery
- Administering medications and assisting with treatment plans under veterinarian supervision
- Educating clients regarding cardiac medications, monitoring at home, activity restrictions, and follow-up care
- Coordinating patient care with Emergency, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and other specialty services
- Assisting with cardiology equipment maintenance and inventory management
- Supporting hospitalized cardiac patients requiring specialized monitoring and nursing care
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, organized, and enjoys building long-term relationships with both patients and clients.
Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred; experienced Veterinary Assistants are encouraged to apply
- Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary hospital setting
- Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, laboratory diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, and patient care
- Specialty or emergency experience preferred but not required
- Experience with echocardiography or ECG monitoring is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate
- Excellent communication and client education skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary specialty team
