Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Manager of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to lead our organization’s efforts in maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. In this pivotal role, you will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs that promote workplace safety, environmental management systems, and regulatory compliance across our manufacturing operations. Your expertise will ensure adherence to OSHA standards, EPA regulations, hazardous materials handling protocols, and workers' compensation law, fostering a culture of safety excellence and environmental stewardship. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence safety practices at a strategic level while supporting the health and well-being of our employees. This position is full time in person in Sacramento, CA

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies aligned with regulatory standards such as OSHA, EPA, and local environmental laws.
Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, root cause analysis, and incident investigations to prevent workplace accidents and environmental violations.
Oversee compliance with hazardous materials regulations, workplace safety protocols, and occupational health standards to ensure a safe environment for all employees.
Partner with GotSafety to roll out/refresh safety training programs including CPR, first aid, OSHA safety regulations, environmental management systems, and emergency response procedures.
Manage workers' compensation claims process in accordance with workers' compensation law and legal requirements.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and environmental assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Prepare detailed report writing on safety performance metrics, incident investigations, compliance audits, and corrective action plans.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of safety awareness and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.

Experience

OSHA 30 Certification
10 years of experience
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field or comparable experience in lieu of a degree.
In depth knowledge of CalOSHA regulations
Preferred experience in manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of workplace safety regulations such as CalOSHA and Federal OSHA standards and hazardous materials regulations.
Demonstrated expertise in environmental health practices including environmental management systems (EMS), environmental regulatory compliance, and occupational health standards.
Familiarity with workers' compensation law processes and legal compliance related to employee health issues.
Strong background in conducting root cause analysis and report writing for safety incidents or environmental violations.
Prior experience leading training & development initiatives focused on EHS topics such as hazard communication, emergency response (CPR/first aid), and regulatory compliance standards.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train staff on safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

This role will work within the company’s 2 manufacturing / warehouse locations.
Requires the ability to respond to emergencies, which may include after-hours availability.
This position requires the candidate to be on site in Sacramento, CA daily.  Work from home or remote work is not available for this position.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Travel

Minimal travel 5-10% may be required to meet with consultants, contractors, clinics, or employees.
May be required to attend training and industry events as directed by manager.
