Job Summary

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you will administer evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions designed to improve, restore, or maintain functional mobility for patients affected by injury, disease, age, or congenital conditions. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care focused on recovery and long-term independence.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Patient Treatment & Interventions: Implement targeted therapeutic interventions focusing on posture, balance, locomotion, strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, pain management, and daily functional activities.
Clinical Collaboration: Assist the Physical Therapist in evaluating treatment plan effectiveness and collaborate on timely adjustments to maximize clinical outcomes.
Modality Administration: Administer treatment methods and modalities safely under direct supervision, adhering to current physical therapy best practices.
Progress Monitoring: Monitor patient responses, track progress, and provide structured feedback to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Patient & Family Education: Educate patients on therapeutic exercises, techniques, and self-management strategies to promote home recovery and self-care.
Individualized Care: Tailor therapeutic approaches to accommodate each patient’s age, developmental level, cultural background, and personal recovery goals.
Documentation & Compliance: Complete clear, concise, and timely documentation—including treatment notes, progress tracking, and discharge recommendations—in full compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate with the broader healthcare team on coordinated care plans and discharge recommendations.
Safety & Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive care environment by strictly adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
General Duties: Comply with all company policies, maintain regular and reliable attendance, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: 0–1 years of experience in a physical therapy setting (New graduates welcome to apply!)
Licensure: Active state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Mexico required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong foundation in physical therapy techniques, modalities, and interventions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail for accurate clinical documentation.
High commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and ethical healthcare standards.
Physical stamina required to safely assist and transfer patients during exercise and functional movement activities.
