Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Turret Punch Press Setup Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating turret punch presses to produce precise sheet metal components according to technical specifications. Your expertise will ensure efficient production workflows, high-quality outputs, and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up turret punch presses by installing tooling, verifying machine parameters, and ensuring proper calibration for each job.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine the correct tooling, sequence, and specifications.
- Operate turret punch presses efficiently while maintaining quality standards, ensuring accurate punching of sheet metal components.
- Conduct routine inspections of tools and machine components, performing adjustments or replacements as needed to maintain optimal performance.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet quality specifications.
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication processes involving CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, welding, and other machining operations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, including proper handling of hand tools, cranes, and other equipment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on machinery issues and coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs or preventative maintenance.
- Assist in the setup of secondary processes such as stamping presses or press brake machines when required.
- Support quality inspection procedures by verifying finished parts against blueprint specifications and documenting results.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating turret punch presses in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling setup, CNC programming basics, and machine calibration.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication processes including CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, welding, and machining (CNC lathe/milling).
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, hand tools, and other manufacturing equipment safely.
- Basic math skills for measurement calculations and process adjustments.
- Knowledge of quality inspection standards related to manufacturing parts.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on safety compliance and process efficiency.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with a proactive approach to troubleshooting equipment issues.
