California Northstate University (CNU) is a private university with the main campus located in Elk Grove, California, approximately 15 miles south of Sacramento. CNU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The Elk Grove facility currently houses the College of Pharmacy, College of Medicine and Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences Programs.
The California Northstate University College of Health Sciences (CNUCHS) campus is located at 2910 Prospect Park Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 along with the College of Psychology and Master of Healthcare Administration Programs. The College of Health Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree in addition to accelerated undergraduate and post-baccalaureate programs. The CNUCHS curriculum is designed to provide excellent academic preparation for careers in the biomedical professions.
MAJOR PURPOSE
We are seeking full-time nursing faculty for our BS in Nursing degree program to promote and support the mission of the College of Health Sciences of California Northstate University by providing quality preparation and delivery of course material, curriculum development and implementation. The candidate must demonstrate proven leadership, and pedagogical expertise, incorporating the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects associated with the dissemination of an exemplary educational process. This position is 100% in person, on campus and in clinical facilities.
COURSES OF PRIMARY TEACHING RESPONSIBILITY:
· Introduction to Professional Nursing
· Nursing Fundamentals (Clinical and Didactic)
· Health Assessment (Clinical and Didactic)
· Adult Health (Clinical and Didactic)
· Psyc/Mental Health (Clinical and Didactic) - depending on content area expertise
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Plan courses and prepare syllabi for approval by the curriculum committee
● Teach a specified number of courses (theory and clinical) per academic year in specialized areas, evaluate and grade students’ work, assignments, and progress, relative to a concept based educational process.
● Provide leadership and guidance for course development, management of advising, and collaboration with Program Director and Clinical Coordinator.
● Make effective use of appropriate technology, learning software, and the learning management system in course delivery.
● Communicate effectively with students regarding course content, assignments, and exams.
● Keep regular office hours for students, provide tutoring assistance as needed and perform student advising duties.
● Serve on college and university committees and engage in university and community service including development of outreach activities.
● Work closely with the BSN Program Director and Curriculum Specialist.
● Supervise and collaborate with adjunct and clinical faculty.
● Provide student supervisorial oversight when indicated.
● Work in a collaborative manner with other colleagues to provide exemplary academics.
● Instruct and supervise students in the clinical setting demonstrating knowledge and competence in clinical practice, utilizing expected learning outcomes to plan student assignments.
● Other duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
· Assist in the development and implementation of assessment programs, practicums, clinicals, simulation labs and any other related process
· Provide academic and administrative perspectives when reviewing and recommending policies, budget decisions, and advice on hires within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum)
● A master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution which includes course work in nursing, education or administration.
● Preferred - Two (2) years’ experience required as a faculty member in a professional nursing education program and/or higher education administration.
● Active, unencumbered registered nurse license, able to obtain license in CA
● Current healthcare provider CPR

Air-conditioned buildings; tile, concrete and carpeted floors; adjustable workstation with ergonomic keyboard provided if necessary. Adequate parking.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle files, computers, and phones; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. Frequent and regular repetitive movements required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
