Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled therapist who believes healing happens through connection, curiosity, and authentic human presence. The ideal clinician is passionate about helping individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and adults navigate trauma, life transitions, emotional challenges, and the experiences that shape who they are.

This position provides diagnostic assessment, psychotherapy, treatment planning, and clinical support within an outpatient setting through evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches. Services may be provided through telehealth and/or in-person sessions.

The ideal candidate understands that therapy is not about fixing people who are broken. It is about helping people reconnect with themselves, build resilience, develop awareness, and remember how to be human.

The Ideal Clinician

This position is best suited for a therapist who is:

Passionate about trauma-informed care and helping clients heal from painful life experiences.
Curious, compassionate, and willing to see the whole person beyond a diagnosis.
Comfortable working with individuals experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and co-occurring mental health concerns.
Able to balance clinical excellence with authenticity, humility, and a sense of humor.
Committed to continued learning, personal growth, and developing as a clinician.
Able to work independently while valuing collaboration, consultation, and connection with a clinical team.

Experience or training in trauma-focused modalities such as EMDR, CPT, IFS, somatic approaches, or other evidence-based trauma treatments is preferred. EMDR basic training is highly valued.

Clinical Responsibilities

The clinician will:

Provide individual, couples, family, adolescent, and/or adult psychotherapy services based on client needs.
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments and develop appropriate clinical diagnoses utilizing DSM-5 guidelines.
Collaboratively create individualized treatment plans that reflect the client’s goals, needs, and personal language.
Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to each client’s unique experiences and circumstances.
Provide psychoeducation regarding trauma responses, nervous system functioning, mental health symptoms, and coping strategies.
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment approaches as clinically appropriate.
Facilitate group therapy, workshops, or specialty programming when applicable and aligned with clinical interests.
Make appropriate referrals and collaborate with other providers, agencies, family members, and support systems involved in client care when clinically appropriate.
Participate in consultation and clinical collaboration to support quality client care.

Documentation & Professional Standards

The clinician is responsible for:

Completing timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required records.
Maintaining documentation standards consistent with Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners requirements, HIPAA regulations, and professional ethical standards.
Maintaining accurate and secure client records and protecting confidentiality at all times.
Completing required clinical documentation within established timelines.
Utilizing appropriate assessment tools to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical outcomes.
Following all mandated reporting laws and ethical responsibilities related to client safety.

Professional Expectations

The clinician is expected to:

Maintain professional licensure or associate status with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
Maintain professional liability insurance as required.
Maintain appropriate HIPAA-compliant communication practices and secure technology.
Participate in supervision when required by licensure status and maintain compliance with supervision agreements.
Engage in regular consultation, training, and professional development to strengthen clinical skills.
Maintain awareness of current research, ethical standards, and evolving practices in behavioral health.
Practice intentional self-care and self-awareness to support longevity in the helping profession and reduce risk of burnout.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, colleagues, supervisors, and community partners.

Qualifications

Required:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
Current Arizona behavioral health license or associate license status (LMSW, LAC, LAMFT, or equivalent).
Ability to provide outpatient mental health services independently or under appropriate supervision.
Strong understanding of therapeutic ethics, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and individuals from varied backgrounds.

Preferred:

Experience working with trauma, PTSD, grief, anxiety, depression, or complex life transitions.
Trauma-focused training or experience.
Experience providing telehealth services.
Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or specialty programs.

Practice Expectations

Clinicians are responsible for maintaining their own professional schedule and communicating appropriately with clients regarding appointments, availability, and clinical needs.

The clinician must have:

Reliable internet access.
A secure computer and workspace appropriate for confidential telehealth services.
HIPAA-compliant communication systems.
A commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful therapeutic environment.
