POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job title: Assistant General Manager FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Restaurant Reports to: General Manager

General Purpose of Position: Responsible for all day-to-day operations of the location. Will effectively assist in carrying out the objectives for the location as determined by Key Management, including all financial goals. Will provide leadership, set the example for, and monitor Malnati product quality and service and will have a constant awareness of the “pulse” of what is happening in his/her location on each shift.

Expectations of an Assistant General Manager:

· Demonstrate ability to lead people and get results through others.

· Strong guest and team member orientation. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and guests.

· Willingness to work towards conflict resolution with the management team and team members. Willingness to work on areas of growth to become a better manager of people.

· Ability to process information and goods through a computer system and register system.

· Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store.

· Ability to work varied hours/days including holidays to supervise store operations. Ability to work extra days or hours when circumstances require. Flexibility to rotate to other locations.

· Ability to balance labor to spreadsheets and explain variances daily.

· Ability to be part of creating a safe, fun, efficient, positive team orientated environment.

Essential Responsibilities of an Assistant General Manager:

· Shapes the culture of the restaurant and works towards a high level of team member engagement and guest satisfaction.

· Assists with achieving all budgeted financial goals, including income, sales, costs, P&L management, etc.

· Assists with interviewing, hiring, training, and developing restaurant team members in all aspects of the business. Maintain team member performance appraisals, discipline, and termination.

· Work with team members in creating a positive guest experience and assist with guest needs as they arise per the Malnati Organization

· Schedule restaurant team members in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.

· Assist with implementing strategies to improve productivity and sales.

· Responsible for inventory maintenance, purchasing and receiving per the Malnati Organization

· Implement and supervise responsible and ethical cash management for the location including checking out, balancing, and making the daily cash income deposit.

· Coordinate special events, large parties, banquets, drop-off catering and carry out orders. Implements store promotions.

· Maintain sanitation and cleanliness guidelines for the location per the Malnati Organization.

· Conduct performance appraisals for various team members per the Malnati Organization.

· Monitor and maintain the high quality of service and food per the Malnati Organization.

· Supervise the repair and maintenance of the store. Report and address safety concerns.

· Provide timely feedback to supervisor regarding service failures or guest needs.

· Ensure the location is prepared based on daily business needs and set up in all areas including but not limited to tables, kitchen, food, bar, prep work, cleanliness, and staffing.

· Responsible for attending required weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc meetings.

· May delegate responsibilities with approval from their General Manager or District Manager.

· Any other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

· Ability to freely access all areas of the restaurant/carry out store including but not limited to dining room, kitchen, bar, office, phone area, delivery area and stock area.

· Ability to stand, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb and move about the facility; ability to stand approximately 90% of workday; manual dexterity.

· Ability to lift, move or handle goods throughout the location generally weighing 0-80 pounds.

Education and/or Training:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent; bachelor’s degree a plus.

· Minimum 3-5 years restaurant experience.

· Required to read and write English, follow and assign verbal and written instructions and use math.

· Training in all aspects of the restaurant/carry out including waiting tables, prep work, steam, and pizza.

· Must have thorough knowledge of Company products, services, policies, and procedures.

· Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

Reporting to this Position: Kitchen Worker, Phone Worker, Cashier, and Delivery Driver
