Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are a growing bookkeeping services firm seeking a Junior Bookkeeper to support multiple client accounts under the supervision of a Senior or Full-Charge Bookkeeper. This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop full-cycle bookkeeping skills across a variety of industries.

The Junior Bookkeeper will handle day-to-day transaction processing and reconciliations while learning best practices in professional client accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Processing

Enter and categorize daily transactions for multiple clients
Process vendor bills and customer invoices
Record payments, deposits, and journal entries
Upload and organize receipts and supporting documents

Reconciliations & Accuracy

Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
Investigate and resolve discrepancies
Maintain clean, organized general ledgers

Client Support

Collect missing documentation from clients
Communicate professionally regarding routine financial questions
Maintain strict confidentiality

Reporting & Close Support

Assist with month-end closing processes
Prepare preliminary financial reports
Support Senior Bookkeepers with audit and tax preparation

Systems & Process

Follow standardized firm workflows
Maintain organized digital files
Learn and apply accounting best practices
Identify errors and escalate appropriately

Required Qualifications

1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience ?????
Basic knowledge of accounting principles
Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar software
Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets
Strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree or coursework in Accounting or Finance ?????
Experience in a bookkeeping or accounting firm
Familiarity with Gusto, ADP, Bill.com, Dext, Hubdoc
Remote work experience
Interest in long-term growth into senior accounting roles

Transactions entered accurately and on time
Reconciliations completed with minimal corrections
Senior staff rarely need to fix errors
Client records are organized and audit-ready
You progress steadily toward full-cycle responsibilities
