Eye Associates of Central Minnesota based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician. We work closely with area physicians, health care providers, and optometrists to provide the best possible medical and surgical eye care for our patients and patients who are referred for consultations. We have all the finest ophthalmic equipment and provide a very comfortable office and environment for you. We have an easy to use medical record system that makes patient care a pleasure. We are open during regular business hours, no weekends. We will consider applicants who require on-the-job training to perform some of the skills needed.
Responsibilities of an ophthalmic technician include:
· Escorting patients from the lobby to the screening room to perform basic pre-testing such as eye pressure measurement and visual acuity.
· Take an accurate medical and eye history.
· Perform a refraction to determine the eyeglasses prescription. If you need help learning this, we can help.
· Perform an initial examination of the eyes prior to the doctor seeing the patient.
· Administer eye drops.
· Assist the doctor with minor office procedures.
· Help patients learn about contacts, order lenses. Fitting can be learned as well.
· Conduct other ophthalmic testing as ordered by the doctor.
· Cross-train and pitch in as needed for other activities such as taking phone calls, pharmacy refills, reminder calling, processing bills, surgery and testing scheduling, and front desk.
· General equipment maintenance.
· Ordering supplies as needed.

· Communicates with patients what is happening at all stages.
· Have a general understanding of eye anatomy, refractive errors, diseases.
· Preserves patient confidentiality and understands HIPAA.
Minimum necessary qualifications are:
· High school diploma.
· At least two references.
· Passing a background check.
· Good work history.
· Physically able to stand, reach, bend and squat repeatedly during the day, as well as, assist patients, push a wheelchair, etc.
· Reliable transportation, and punctuality.
