Advanced CNC & Robotics Operator

Location: Hurricane, UT (2292 West 500 North, Hurricane, UT 84737)

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $23.00-$27.00 hourly (DOE)

ABOUT US

S&S Steel Fabrication is a trusted structural steel fabricator serving the oil & gas, power, mining & minerals, aggregates, water/wastewater treatment, and advanced facilities industries nationwide. With state-of-the-art robotics, CNC processing, and an integrated coatings workflow, we deliver precision-fabricated steel components that meet or exceed client specifications on projects for companies like Rio Tinto, Newmont, Intel, and Universal Studios. Our shop runs on a state-of-the-art Peddinghaus robotic system paired with a SubX beam drill line, combining CNC part processing, high-speed multi-axis drilling, and intelligent layout marking to deliver precision fabrication.

POSITION SUMMARY

We're looking for an Advanced CNC & Robotics Operator to run and maintain our automated fabrication systems. You'll operate CNC and robotic equipment used for beam drilling, cutting, and marking, ensuring parts are processed accurately and efficiently to keep projects on schedule and defect-free.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up, program, and operate CNC equipment (Peddinghaus robotic systems, SubX beam drill line, and related machinery)
Load material and position beams/plates for cutting, drilling, and marking operations
Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and cut lists to program correct part specifications
Monitor machine performance during operation and make adjustments to maintain tolerances
Perform quality checks on finished parts, catching fit-up issues before they reach welding or coating
Troubleshoot basic machine errors and perform routine maintenance
Coordinate with fabrication, welding, and coatings teams to maintain workflow
Maintain accurate production records and report material usage
Follow all safety protocols in a heavy industrial shop environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience operating CNC or robotic fabrication equipment (structural steel/beam line experience a strong plus)
Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists
Basic computer literacy; comfort working with CNC programming/control software
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Strong attention to detail — precision directly affects downstream welding and coating quality
Physical ability to lift, stand, and maneuver material for extended periods (up to 50 lbs)
High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade certification a plus
