Position Overview: As a
Machinist at Vulcan Metals Corp. based in St. Joseph, Missouri, you will play a crucial role in the production process, operating various machinery to manufacture precision components for our diverse range of products. You will work as part of a skilled team in a dynamic manufacturing environment, contributing to the production of high-quality parts that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operation of CNC machines with the understanding of machining concept Set-up and program machine equipment
- Work to hold Scheduling and maintain a good workflow
- Notify management of machine problems as needed to keep the equipment and tools in good working order
- Perform preventative maintenance necessary for the Machine Tool
- Use problem solving skills to improve machine productivity and quality
- Maintain good housekeeping at your work station
- Immediately correct safety issues that are within your area and alert management to any safety issues that need further attention
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Understanding of all the basics and advance tooling application on conventional and CNC machine workstations
- Apprenticeship certificate or equal is a plus
Experience:
- 3-5 years of CNC machining experience preferred
- Heavy industrial Machine Shop experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions and blueprints.
- Strong math skills.
- PLC skills preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to use arms, hands, legs and feet in repetitive motions
- Must be able to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
- Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration of the shift
