Coastal Manufacturing is seeking a Laser/Water Jet Technician with experience who is a passionate individual, self-motivated and adaptable in our fast-paced environment. This role is to assist the laser/water jet, fabrication, and machine shop teams in cutting parts for production while working closely with our internal engineering and planning teams. A willing attitude is very important for this position and goes a long way when thinking through a variety of solutions to complete jobs on time due to the fast pace of parts flowing through the shop. This position is hands-on experience; we aim to attract, retain, develop and motivate talent that possesses the skills and leadership necessary to grow our team.
Position: Laser/Waterjet Technician
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: 8 hours a day, Monday-Friday (Days/overtime may be dependent on
any project)
Reports to: Shop Foreman
Responsibilities
· Set up, program, and operate laser/waterjet equipment safely and efficiently
· Work with a wide variety of raw materials to achieve high-quality, precision parts
· Handle materials from rough stock through post-processed finished parts
· Shift between jobs as priorities change, communicating clearly with co-workers
· Juggle multiple projects, sidelining some to expedite others as needed
· Perform manual post-machining operations following safety standards (deburring, tapping, tumbling, etc.)
· Lift and maneuver heavy plate materials safely, using a forklift or other equipment as needed
· Communicate job progress through multiple channels, both verbally and via process-tracking platforms
· Keep equipment and work areas clean and orderly
· Follow inventory management requirements
· Perform basic preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
· Communicate effectively in a rapid production environment
Required
· HS Diploma or GED equivalent
· 2+ years of relevant experience as a Laser or Waterjet Technician
· Ability to safely operate, program, and set up laser and waterjet equipment
· Ability to safely operate handheld tools, drill presses, saws, grinders, and sheet metal fabrication equipment
· Experience in post-processing platework with hand tools and other equipment
· Strict adherence to all safety procedures and standards
· Availability to work overtime and weekends
· Ability to lift 50 lbs unaided
· Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, and follow written instructions
Desired
· 2+ years of experience in a related industry
· Prior experience with CNC laser, plasma cutter, waterjet, router, mill, or press brakes
· Familiarity with waterjet programming software
· Prior fabrication experience
· Familiarity with CNC fiber laser cutters
