TITLE: Certified Massage Therapist
POSITION TYPE: Part-time, 0-23 hours per week*
*Hours per week will fluctuate based on practitioner availability and business needs. Client numbers vary from week to week depending on the schedule of hosted programs, personal retreats, holidays, etc.

RATE OF PAY: $50 to $55 per hour, depending on experience

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Daily Commute
POSITION SUMMARY: Kaya Kapla Wellness Center offers a variety of massage techniques, Ayurvedic therapies, and wellness treatments for the guests, residents, and staff of Mount Madonna Center. We are seeking a Certified Massage Therapist for all days of the week, especially Friday through Sunday, when guest numbers are typically higher. A local practitioner from surrounding areas such as Aptos, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Gilroy, or Morgan Hill is preferred.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fostering a calm, welcoming space that invites relaxation, trust, and a deeper connection to well-being throughout each client’s experience while maintaining a professional appearance and clean workspace
- Guiding clients through available offerings with care and clarity, empowering them to choose services that best support their needs
- Providing restorative bodywork that supports each client in their personal healing journey
- Maintain an up-to-date schedule through the booking platform, Acuity, including the following availability: Minimum of 10 hours per week and two weekends per month, specifically revolving around programs/retreat scheduling with schedule opened at least six weeks in advance
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Valid California Massage Therapy Council Certification required, includes physical copy for office display
- Proficiency in Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Sports massage techniques
- Previous spa experience
- Required participation in continued education provided by Kaya Kalpa to deepen understanding and practice of Ayurvedic modalities such as shirodhara, abhyanga, and swedana.
- Physical Requirements:
- Safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 lbs without exertion, such as moving massage equipment, linens, or treatment supplies
- Bend, reach, and remain standing for extended periods of time throughout shifts
- Assist individuals with limited mobility in safely transitioning from personal mobility devices (e.g. wheelchairs) to massage tables or chairs, using proper body mechanics and support
- Experience with various types of bodywork and other holistic healing modalities a plus
- Background in ayurvedic education a plus
- Familiarity with the scheduling platform Acuity a plus
