Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing & Planning Representative to support our manufacturing operations by managing purchasing, inventory, production planning, and material coordination. This role ensures materials are available when needed, production schedules stay on track, and inventory remains accurate. The position works closely with production, engineering, sales, finance, and warehouse teams.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase raw materials, components, and supplies for production.
Manage purchase orders, vendor communication, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Run MRP/ERP reports to support production planning and material availability.
Coordinate production schedules and release work orders.
Monitor inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and maintain inventory accuracy.
Track open orders, shortages, backorders, and resolve vendor issues.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while negotiating pricing and lead times.
Coordinate receiving activities and resolve discrepancies with shipments and invoices.
Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and planning data in the ERP system (JobBOSS preferred).
Help organize warehouse and stockroom for efficient material flow.
Create and maintain production paperwork and documentation.
Use Microsoft Excel to analyze inventory, shortages, and purchasing trends.
Cross-train with team members and provide backup support as needed.
Continuously improve purchasing, planning, inventory, and warehouse processes.

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
2–3+ years of experience in purchasing, production planning, inventory control, or manufacturing.
Experience using an ERP/MRP system (JobBOSS preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other business software.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
