Full Job Description

Position Summary: The PTT instructor will facilitate the PTT Course of Instruction. The course provides students with the technical skills and knowledge required to achieve entry-level competencies and perform Army Physical Therapy Specialist / Navy Physical Therapy Technician / Air Force Physical Medicine Apprentice duties at fixed military treatment facilities and field or shipboard environments. The course is specifically focused on the diagnostic and interventional treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders under the care of the Physical Therapist. The course provides simulated and live training in all aspects of physical therapy medicine to include functional human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, clinical pathophysiology, musculoskeletal physical therapy assessment and management, therapeutic exercises, procedures, and modalities (physical agents, spinal traction, ultrasound, electrotherapy, theory, and application of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Simulation), neurological, and medical disorders, physical therapy assessments, clinical management, professional communication, psychosocial issues in health care and clinical experiences are introduced.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide training, support, assistance, documentation, and advice for the efficient and effective instruction of students in the METC Courses. Utilize course and class materials, to include lesson plans, Power Point Slides (PPS), Student Evaluation and Administration Plans (SEAP), Course of Instructions (COI) developed by METC’s Curriculum Development staff.

· Ensure all students course materials; general references and examinations are clearly written, technically and didactically correct and revised sufficiently to maintain state of the art instruction as directed by the course Curriculum Development staff. Provide recommendation to update course and class materials as appropriate.

· Provide students with clear course objectives and classroom expectations; ensure that course content and objectives are met.

· Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate the diverse learning styles of students.

· Respond to student questions and inquiries in a timely manner and document concerns and forward to the Course Director or designee for action.

· Provide guidance and academic support to students.

· Maintain accurate attendance records and call on or follow-up with absent students.

· Conduct examination reviews, administer examinations as scheduled and proctor to ensure testing integrity.

· Conduct scheduled and unscheduled remedial training as needed to assist students with course material.

· Actively work to maintain student retention within the course by identifying at-risk students and provide tutoring and course plans to help them succeed.

· Able to increase student learning through development of a relevant progressive curriculum, design effective learning strategies and environments, delivering high quality instruction, advising students, and participating in teaching scanning labs.

· When directed, input student grades and academic counseling forms into course records and students’ master training records.

· Coordinate with other instructors to determine class schedules. Final decisions and determinations are reserved for the METC Designated Government Representative.

· Provide End of Course (EOC) feedback that shall be utilized for course improvement.

· Comply with all institutional, accrediting and regulatory agency policies and procedures.

· Attend and participate in training and meetings, as directed by the Course Directors.

· Competencies and tasks of the position shall be met consistently with the educational principles of METC, which focus on meeting the learning needs of students.

Education and Experience:

· Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) must possess an associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program.

· Active, unrestricted license as a Physical Therapist (PT) or PTA.

· Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience.

· Previous instructional experience is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Possess excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills and be capable of learning and utilizing current and emerging military and commercial technology.

· Knowledge of instructional techniques and training methodologies to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise training courses.

· Experience utilizing a variety of instructional technologies, training equipment, and teaching methods to incorporate the principles of adult learning into teaching practices.

· Basic knowledge of computer equipment and the assigned area of system software.

· Demonstrate proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.

Training Requirements: Defense Health Agency (DHA) initial and annual training requirements, and comply with all DHA policies, procedures, productivity standards, and instructions as provided.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing shall be required while conducting lectures, facilitating and hands-on instruction.

Travel Requirements: None

Work Environment: 100% of work is conducted in a classroom, clinical, indoor environment.

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
