Major Responsibilities:
●Review production cards/job tickets received from Customer Services with attention to special instructions, board grade, size, and routing requirements.
●Order corrugated sheets from approved mill vendors, or pull and allocate in-stock (stock sheet) inventory, to fulfill production orders in the most cost-effective and least-waste manner.
●Verify vendor limitations, minimum order quantities for specific board grades/combinations, and confirm all vendors used are approved vendors.
●Check incoming sheet receipts against the production card (purchase order, sheet size, board grade, scoring, quantity ordered vs. received) and release production cards to the floor once verified.
●Enter and verify vendor receivers in the production/scheduling system (Amtech or equivalent) and post customer-supplied material receivers to the production card.
●Identify, tag, and process non-conforming board material (HFD tag, Raw Material Quarantine), complete Return to Vendor (RTV) documentation, and reorder material as needed to keep the job on schedule.
●Maintain records of vendor non-conformances and supplier performance (Supplier Corrective Action Requests, RTV/Vendor Nonconformance logs).
●Confirm all tooling required to run each job — printing plates, dies, ink, and any other job-specific components — is on hand, correct, and inspected before the order is released to production.
●Maintain and organize tooling (plates, dies, and related components), including proper storage, labeling, and inventory tracking so tooling can be located quickly for scheduled jobs.
●Check ink inventory against upcoming scheduled jobs and place ink orders with suppliers as needed to ensure adequate supply for print runs.
●Line up and schedule machine centers for all orders, adjusting the production line-up as necessary to meet changing customer requirements and priorities.
●Attend morning production meetings; review all orders in process and confirm delivery schedules with the team.
●Review the backlog daily and flag/expedite “HOT” orders needed for shipment the next day.
●Move multi-operational production cards to the next required machine center; coordinate with supervisors on order flow.
●Work with Customer Services on delivery timing for print plates and cutting dies due for orders currently in-house.
●Adjust, retrieve, and sign production cards to reflect customer change orders or order retrievals.
●Pick up and verify counts on finished orders and coordinate delivery to the Shipping Department.
●Perform any other production-related duties as needed to support scheduling, purchasing, tooling, and order fulfillment, and assist other departments — including Shipping, Accounting, and Customer Service — wherever needed to keep production running smoothly.
Daily Tasks:
●Review the order queue and production card backlog each morning; update the machine schedule/line-up accordingly.
●Order sheets from the mill as needed to fulfill scheduled production orders.
●Confirm ink and tooling (plates, dies) availability for all jobs scheduled to run that day and the next.
●Check board receipts against production cards and release cleared cards to the floor.
●Attend morning and afternoon production meetings.
●Enter production/scheduling data into the software system.
Monthly Tasks:
●Participate in monthly safety meetings.
●Help Production with monthly safety inspections.
●Perform end-of-month inventory.
●Review vendor performance, non-conformance records, and supplier corrective action requests.
As-Needed Tasks:
●Process Return to Vendor (RTV) and reorder non-conforming or short-shipped board material.
●Coordinate with the Vendors on expedited or rush deliveries.
●Reconcile physical sheet inventory against the computer system.
