Work Location: Historic Stanford Campus

Work Schedule: Hybrid work schedule (at least 2 days per week on-site). May require working flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends. Some travel may be required.

Budgeted Salary: The expected pay range for this position is $160,500 - $180,000 per annum.

This opportunity is a fixed-term position for three years.

ABOUT THE OFFICE OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

The Office of Government Affairs (OGA) coordinates and facilitates Stanford University’s interactions with all levels of government, as well as its relationship with neighboring communities. The work of OGA supports the university’s academic mission of teaching and research by serving as the primary point of contact between the university and our partners in federal, state and local governments.

Position Summary: Stanford University is seeking a new team member to advance our local government and community-facing efforts to support the Stanford Medicine Cancer Center (SMCC) vision and project in Redwood City, CA. This role will manage project and program development projects focused on local government, community affairs, ultimately supporting the university’s academic mission and Stanford Medicine’s mission. This role will require strong project management skills, budget tracking abilities, and a passion for fostering relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will navigate internal cross-departmental teams to achieve externally facing outcomes and ensure that community interests align with Stanford’s strategic goals. This is a 3 year Fixed-Term position.

In this role you will:

Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-facing projects and initiatives related to land use entitlements and community affairs and outreach. Oversee project timelines, budgets, and key deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
Manage financial aspects of government and community affairs project needs, including creating budget projections and tracking expenditures. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
Collaborate effectively with internal teams across various departments to produce impactful outcomes for external stakeholders. Work closely with various university departments, agencies, and coalitions to ensure a cohesive approach to community-focused projects and matters of community interest. Collaborate with the Office of Government Affairs colleagues to align local initiatives with broader legislative and advocacy strategies.
Translate and track external community and government requests into actionable projects, ensuring alignment with office strategies and objectives.
Plan and execute community engagement events and initiatives related to the Stanford Medicine Cancer Center - Redwood City Project.

Core Duties :

Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed.
Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.
Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus.
Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead change management methodologies underlying project success.

Minimum Education :

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Minimum Experience :

Five years of related experience in management of projects with extensive size/complexity and moderate performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or a combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Highly effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
Ability to productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.
Ability to balance customer expectations with project reality.
Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills in a variety of situations.
Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness.
Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.
