Full Job Description

Counselor

Part Time-Hourly

Qualifications/Experience

Registered or certified professional with 1+ years of treatment understanding, college level courses related to treatment of chemical dependency and A.A degree preferred.
Must be registered or certified by a California DHCS approved agency (CCAPP or (CADTP)
Must hold Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist certification
Must submit negative annual TB screening
Must maintain strict adherence to facility Policies and Procedures and all other licensing/certification agencies.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and family counseling within scope of practice
Provide group counseling sessions within scope of practice
Provide case management (vocational, social support, financial assistance, LOA/disability) duties for a caseload
Determine causal relationship between substance addiction, behavioral health, socio-economic factors and personality traits
Complete intake assessments and orientation to program
Contact client family members regarding client intake and orientation as indicated (contingent upon a signed and filed release of information)
Intervene and assist in crisis intervention, ACA blocking and client de-escalation
Design and implements treatment plans identifying goals to be achieved and updates
Review case records and refers clients to medical or psychiatric services as appropriate.
Participate in the evaluation of counseling methods for the effective treatment of each client
Prepare correspondence and reports as required for supervisor.
Properly document client’s progress on charts and produce quality documentation in a timely manner
Adhere to code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, abuse reporting policies and procedures, and exercise professionalism at all times
Various clinical administrative duties as assigned by Clinical Director.
Maintain appropriate records in a confidential and timely manner as specified by program and follow all credentialing agency requirements, program policies and procedures and HIPAA, 42 CFR and Title IX Requirements.

Thorough understanding of mental health treatment population
Thorough understanding of clinical documentation and strong writing skills
Ability to practice de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques with clients
Ability to practice discretion while performing job functions; ability to maintain client privacy and adhere to federal confidentiality laws (HIPAA Rule & 42 CFR Part 2).
Logistical forecasting and time management
Ability to screen for substance abuse, mental health, and suicidality
Must exercise empathy and have a non-judgmental approach
Ability to navigate an EMR system and document appropriately & accordingly

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
