Full Job Description

Job Title: Estimator

Roles & Responsibilities:

As an Estimator, your key roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Review architectural plans, drawings, and specifications to determine the scope of work
Utilize Bluebeam to produce take-offs.
Assist in developing detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, equipment, and installation.
Communicate with suppliers and vendors to obtain quotes and ensure accurate pricing.
Assist in developing change order pricing for active projects.
Work with team leads in the preparation of bid packages, ensuring all required documentation and pricing information is included.
Submit bids to general contractors in a timely manner.
Follow up on submitted bids and track bid status.
Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and related documentation in Building Connected.
Attend in person job walks to assess site conditions and gather data for accurate estimates.
Participate in business development activities with key and strategic customers.
Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and construction methods related to window coverings.
Participate in training and development opportunities to improve estimating skills.
Assist in reviewing completed projects to compare estimated costs versus actual costs and identify areas for improvement.

Please note that these roles and responsibilities are subject to change as per the needs of the organization. You may be required to undertake additional tasks or assume different responsibilities as deemed necessary by your supervisor or the management team.

Desired Experience:

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with various types of window coverings (blinds, shades, draperies, motorized systems, etc.).
Product Knowledge: Understanding of materials, fabrics, and mechanisms used in window coverings.
Sales Experience: Ability to consult with customers, understand their needs, and recommend appropriate solutions.
Floorplan/Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans or architectural drawings.
Quoting and Pricing: Experience with estimating costs, preparing detailed quotes, and explaining pricing to customers.
Software Skills: Familiarity with design and estimation software (Bluebeam, Building Connected, Procore).
Installation Awareness: Basic understanding of window covering installation techniques and considerations.
Customer Interaction: Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors effectively.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in quotes to avoid costly errors.
Problem-Solving: Skill in identifying potential challenges and offering practical solutions during the estimation phase.
Driving Capability: Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site measurements and consultations.
