Pay range DOE: $33.25 - $34.08

Shifts: Mon, Wed 9am-1pm and Fri 1pm-5pm, flexibility for other times/shifts

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Helpline Program Manager, the Bilingual Parent Support Counselor II is responsible for providing telephone support & counseling on our Parenting Stress Helpline. Additionally, this position supervises volunteers and interns as assigned and participates in volunteer pre-service training.

Family Paths serves all of Alameda County with offices in Oakland and Hayward

This position requires demonstration of and commitment to the agency’s mission, vision, and values, including providing culturally and linguistically responsive practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide telephone counseling & support, crisis intervention & prevention, information and referrals to intra-agency services and external community resources. Includes one-time callers as well as ongoing phone support and/or case management.
Supervise parent support volunteers/interns as assigned on Helpline shifts.
Shift duties: Take incoming calls, make assigned callbacks, follow-up on caller voicemails and text messages. Complete required documentation of calls and intra-agency referrals into the Agency EHR System.
Participate in pre-service volunteer/intern training, including the development of training modules, evaluating participants and facilitating assigned modules.
Assist with maintaining the community resource database in our EHR System by ensuring resource listings are entered accurately and with essential information, by updating current listings at least once per year and seeking out and adding additional resources to meet current trends in resource requests.
Assist the Program Coordinator/Program Manager to create a system/process for keeping track of resources in need of update that can be shared w/the Helpline team; train them on its use
Attend outreach events as needed.
Attend all team and agency meetings as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or other related human services degree plus 3 years of experience in counseling, crisis intervention and/or prevention, and supporting parents/families from diverse and under-resourced communities.

Associate’s degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience in counseling, crisis intervention and/or prevention, supporting parents/families from diverse and under-resourced communities will be considered.
Candidates with at least 7 years of experience in counseling, crisis intervention and/or prevention, supporting parents/families from diverse and under-resourced communities may be considered.
At least 1 year experience providing lead support to, or supervision of, staff/volunteers in a setting serving parents/families.
Knowledge of child development and positive parenting practices, including laws related to child abuse.
Fluent Spanish Speaker.
Highly proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook), database skills, internet and research skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in psychology, social work (or other related human services degree)
Licensed MFT, LCSW, or on the licensure track.
Knowledge of Strengthening Families’ Framework™, trauma informed care, positive parenting practices and motivational interviewing interventions.
Experience providing trainings.
Experience working on a hotline.

Special Requirements for all candidates:

Must pass criminal records clearance.
A computer with secure and reliable internet, a smartphone, and a private space to conduct calls is required when working remotely
Flexibility to work standby on occasional evenings and weekends.
