Full Job Description

Title: Electrical Commissioning Lead
Position Type: Contract
Location: Various U.S. Locations
Reports to: Commissioning Manager

Key Project Requirements:

High-voltage electrical commissioning experience (transformers, switchgear, MCCs, substations).
Experience leading electrical commissioning teams and third-party testing providers.
Strong technical knowledge of construction completion, testing, and energization procedures.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems during startup and commissioning.

Job Summary:
PIC Staffing is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Lead to support multiple upcoming power generation and industrial commissioning projects across the United States. The Electrical Commissioning Lead will oversee electrical testing, startup, and operational readiness activities to ensure all systems meet project safety, quality, and performance requirements. This role includes managing electrical equipment energization, coordinating with construction and commissioning teams, and supervising electrical technicians and testing contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and manage commissioning of electrical systems including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS, DC systems, motors, and substations.
Oversee substation and switchyard commissioning and ensure adherence to project testing and construction requirements.
Assist in developing commissioning procedures and maintain documentation of all testing, startup, and turnover activities.
Identify and resolve issues affecting electrical commissioning and escalate when needed.
Coordinate and supervise electrical commissioning personnel and third-party testing firms.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, LOTO procedures, and project standards.

Job Requirements:

Strong understanding of electrical commissioning processes and high-voltage testing standards.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, and technical documentation.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing commissioning teams.
Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical faults and system issues.
Familiarity with commissioning procedures, startup protocols, and turnover documentation requirements.

Education / Experience:

Engineering degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience required.
OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 preferred.
8+ years of electrical commissioning experience in the power or heavy industrial sector.
