A private family in San Jose, CA is seeking an experienced professional nanny with a minimum of 3 years of full-time nanny experience to join their household long-term.
This is a hybrid nanny/household support position (approximately 50% childcare / 50% household support) supporting a newborn and a 3-year-old. The ideal candidate has substantial hands-on experience caring for infants and young children and is equally comfortable assisting with light household and family-support responsibilities.
Please note: A minimum of 3 years of full-time professional nanny experience is required. Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
Compensation
$35–$40/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- 40 hours/week
- Starting as soon as possible
Primary ResponsibilitiesNewborn & Childcare
- Provide attentive, hands-on care for a newborn, prioritizing safety, comfort, and well-being
- Manage feeding routines, including bottle feeding and supporting breastfeeding routines as directed by the parents
- Follow the baby's established sleep and nap schedule and adhere to safe sleep practices
- Handle diapering, bathing/hygiene, and other routine infant care
- Support age-appropriate developmental activities, including tummy time, sensory play, and interactive engagement
- Provide nurturing, structured care and age-appropriate activities for the 3-year-old
- Assist with the morning routine and school/daycare drop-off for the 3-year-old
- Communicate proactively with parents regarding feeding, sleep, behavior, and developmental observations
Household & Family Support
- Prepare simple, healthy meals for the children and family
- Clean and organize child-related and shared household spaces
- Wash and organize bottles and baby items
- Handle children's laundry and maintain nursery organization
- Assist with light household organization and daily family-support tasks
- Help keep household routines running smoothly and efficiently
Working With the Family
- Maintain a calm, organized, nurturing environment
- Work collaboratively with parents, including parents who may be working from home
- Follow the family's established routines, preferences, and childcare approach
- Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in a private household
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of full-time professional nanny experience
- Recent, verifiable experience caring for newborns and young children
- Strong knowledge of newborn care, including feeding, sleep routines, infant hygiene, and safety
- Excellent professional childcare references
- Comfortable caring for two children of different ages
- Comfortable performing both childcare and light household-support duties
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently
- Calm, patient, nurturing, and emotionally attuned to children's needs
- Current on Tdap, TB, COVID, and flu vaccinations
Preferred: Candidates with long-term placements, newborn experience, and experience working in a private household environment.
