Why does the job exist?
This position exists to ensure the Division¿s operational integrity by managing all purchasing, fixed assets, and fleet functions. It provides centralized oversight for contracts, major equipment purchases, inventory accountability, and vehicle/fuel card management. The role supports compliance with state policies, maintains accurate property records, facilitates procurement processes, and ensures Division staff have the equipment, vehicles, and resources needed to operate effectively statewide.
How does it get done?
Serve as the Division's primary Purchasing Agent, managing contracts, price agreements, procurement processes, major equipment purchases, IT and communications equipment purchases/disposals, uniforms, and purchase order/voucher processing.
Oversee the Division's fixed asset management by coordinating annual inventories, tracking assets, managing transfers and disposals, ensuring compliance with property requirements, working with property managers statewide, and supporting surplus property processes.
Manage the Division's fleet operations, including vehicle assignments, fuel card issuance and audits, monthly receipt reconciliation, vehicle maintenance and disposal coordination, new vehicle titling and registration, supporting safety programs, and ensuring compliance with state vehicle policies.

Internal and external customers, visitors throughout the state of New Mexico and surrounding states who are campers, hikers, and boaters that come to visit the park for a variety of reasons. Local community businesses in surrounding areas of the park.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and Finance and one (1) year of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily administrative to include: extended sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching, driving, typing non-stop, lifting up to 30 pounds, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, working inside continuously, working outside occasionally, working in adverse weather conditions, working in extreme heat or cold, exposure to sunlight, risk of minor injury, risk of animal or insect bite, exposure to allergens, interaction with the public, working alone for extended periods, multiple demands from several people. This position requires the ability to see objects at close work. Sitting at a desk or computer workstation is essential.
