Cardiology Physician Assistant (PA-C) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

7 Days On / 7 Days Off | Inpatient Cardiology | LTAC & Rehabilitation Facilities

We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our cardiology team, providing inpatient cardiology care at Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) and rehabilitation facilities.

This position offers an attractive 7 days on / 7 days off schedule, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced cardiology advanced practice provider who values flexibility, independence, and work-life balance.

Position Highlights

7 days on / 7 days off
26 weeks off per year
Flexible work hours during scheduled work weeks
Inpatient-focused position
Work collaboratively with cardiologists, facility physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
Opportunity for a high degree of autonomy while maintaining physician support
No traditional outpatient clinic schedule

Responsibilities

The PA or NP will provide cardiology evaluation and management for patients in LTAC and rehabilitation settings. Responsibilities include:

Perform inpatient cardiology consultations and follow-up visits
Evaluate and manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions
Obtain histories, perform physical examinations, and develop treatment plans
Review EKGs, laboratory results, cardiac imaging, and other diagnostic studies
Manage cardiac medications and make treatment recommendations in collaboration with supervising cardiologists
Provide ongoing management of patients with conditions such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, and other cardiovascular disorders
Coordinate care with cardiologists, hospitalists, rehabilitation physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
Complete documentation accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
Communicate significant changes in patient condition to the appropriate physician

Qualifications

Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license
Appropriate national certification
Prior inpatient cardiology experience is required
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
Experience managing medically complex cardiac patients
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and facility staff
Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred

Schedule

This position is structured around a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation.

During the seven scheduled workdays, the provider will have flexibility in structuring daily work hours based on patient census, rounding requirements, and clinical needs. This model provides significant scheduling flexibility while allowing for a full seven consecutive days off following each work rotation.

Cardiology Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience in cardiology, internal medicine, or related field
Strong understanding of cardiovascular diseases and treatments
Ability to interpret EKG, echocardiograms, and other diagnostic testing
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or APRN program
Active Florida licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant or APRN
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Strong diagnostic skills and clinical judgment
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
