Full Job Description

Role: Event Lead

Company: WeberSCENIC Productions

Location: Bradenton, FL (shop-based with on-site work at venues across the region)

Reports to: Creative Director & Managing Director

Employment Type: Full-time, salary DOE. Weekends, nights

Role Summary

The Event Lead is the bridge between WeberSCENIC’s creative vision and flawless event execution.

The main responsibilities of this position is

Leading on-site event installs & strikes (weddings, galas, themed and corporate events)
Working hands-on in the warehouse Maintaining a clean, organized warehouse, maintaining inventory and systems for checking inventory in and out after events.

Direct crews on event days, communicate with planners and venue teams, and make sure each installation looks and feels like a WeberSCENIC production: high quality, artistically innovative, and on time.

This is a hands-on, physical, leadership role for someone who loves events, understands the requirement of weekends, late nights, and can both “do the work” and confidently lead others.

Key ResponsibilitiesEvent Leadership & On-Site Execution

Serve as on-site lead for assigned events, from arrival through final strike.
Lead and direct a crew of installers to:
Unload trucks efficiently
Place scenic elements according to floor plans and renderings
Install décor, draping, lighting, and custom pieces to spec
Tear down, pack, and reload trucks at strike
Act as the primary point of contact on-site for planners, coordinators, and venue managers representing WeberSCENIC with professionalism and calm authority.
Manage the on-site timeline to ensure installs and strikes are completed within venue access windows (often tight turnaround times).
Troubleshoot on-site issues (layout changes, venue constraints, weather, last-minute client requests) and present solutions confidently.
Ensure all finished installs meet WeberSCENIC quality standards and are safe, secure, and photo-ready.

Warehouse & Scenic Production

Oversee and assist in prepping events in the shop, including:
Pulling inventory and décor according to pull sheets or pack lists
Labeling and staging items for load-in
Basic carpentry, fabrication, scenic painting, and repairs as needed
Help maintain a clean, organized warehouse and shop (tools, inventory, and scenic elements).
Assist with checking inventory in and out after events; report damage or maintenance needs.
Responsible for fulfilling other duties as assigned

Logistics & Operations Support

Responsible for:
Truck loading plans and pack order
Equipment and materials needed for each event
Basic routing and timing for multiple events in a day
Help support the ability to send multiple crews out at once, acting as lead for one crew when the Creative Director is on another site.
Follow internal systems for tracking projects, work lists, and event prep so the team stays ahead of schedule (not day-to-day reactive).

Communication & Team Culture

Give clear, respectful direction to crew members on site and in the shop.
Provide feedback after events on what worked, what didn’t, and where processes can improve.
Uphold WeberSCENIC’s values of professionalism, creativity, collaboration, positivity and excellence in every interaction.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience

2+ years in events, theater, live production, event rentals, AV, or a related field.
Prior experience as a crew lead, banquet captain, event supervisor, or similar leadership role strongly preferred.

Technical & Physical

Comfortable with basic tools, ladders, and working at heights (hanging drape, installing fixtures, etc.).
Able to read and follow floor plans, elevations, or renderings (or learn quickly).
Able to lift 50–75 lbs with assistance, push/pull carts, and be on your feet for long periods.
Able and willing to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays, especially in peak season.
Valid driver’s license; comfortable driving large vans/box trucks is a plus.

Carpentry or scenic construction experience.
Scenic painting or theatrical scenery background.
Experience in themed events, corporate theater, or large-scale decor.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay: Salary DOE
Status: Full-time weekends
Schedule:
Heavier Thursday–Monday schedule in peak season (with weekends and late nights standard for events).
Lighter weeks in off-season, with potential for shorter work weeks when event volume is lower.
