Full Job Description

Are you a confident, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen? Do you take pride in building strong teams, developing talent, and creating a positive culture where people want to work?

We're looking for an experienced Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations of one of Hilton Head Island's busiest seafood restaurants. This is an opportunity for a motivated self-starter who enjoys taking ownership, leading by example, and continuously improving both the guest experience and the kitchen team.

This is not a role for someone who waits for direction—we're looking for someone who can confidently lead the kitchen, solve problems, inspire their team, and hold everyone (including themselves) to a high standard.

What You'll Do

Lead all back-of-house operations while maintaining exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation.
Build, coach, and develop a strong kitchen team through training, accountability, and positive leadership.
Foster a culture built on respect, teamwork, urgency, and pride in delivering outstanding guest experiences.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and retain top culinary talent.
Maintain high standards of sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness.
Manage inventory, purchasing, food costs, and labor to meet financial goals.
Work closely with restaurant leadership to improve systems, efficiency, and profitability.
Create and execute seasonal features and menu enhancements while maintaining operational excellence.
Lead by example during service and remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused under pressure.
Ensure every shift runs efficiently while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.

What We're Looking For

4+ years of Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef experience in a high-volume restaurant is required.
Proven success leading large kitchen teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop others.
A confident decision-maker who takes ownership and doesn't need constant direction.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong understanding of food and labor cost controls, purchasing, and inventory management.
Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations.
Ability to communicate effectively with both front- and back-of-house leadership.
Passion for hospitality, quality, and creating an exceptional guest experience.
