Position Overview

Sagicor is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Claims Examiner to join our Claims team. In this role, you will efficiently and accurately evaluate life and annuity claims of varying complexity, ensuring timely claim resolution while maintaining compliance with policy provisions, state regulations, and departmental service standards.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to interpret insurance contracts and claim documentation with a high degree of accuracy.

What You'll Do

Develop a thorough understanding of claims administration systems and applications, including LSP, GIAS, Workflow, and other related platforms.
Build expertise in the life insurance and annuity products serviced by Sagicor.
Review and interpret policy contracts, benefit provisions, and beneficiary designations to determine claim eligibility and benefits.
Evaluate claim documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policy requirements.
Process non-contestable death claims and communicate claim requirements and next steps to beneficiaries, funeral homes, attorneys, funding companies, and other stakeholders.
Review pending claim files and provide timely follow-up correspondence in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Calculate and process death claim benefits accurately while adhering to policy provisions and state regulations.
Identify and escalate potential fraud or material misrepresentation concerns to management.
Research and investigate customer information utilizing internal systems and external resources.
Support Missing Policyholder requests received through Departments of Insurance and Third-Party Administrators.
Prepare and provide settlement option quotes and explain available settlement alternatives to claimants.
Partner with peers and leaders to support departmental objectives and deliver exceptional customer service.
Demonstrate professionalism and represent the Sagicor culture in all customer and business interactions.

What We're Looking For

Minimum of one year of college education or previous claims experience.
Minimum of two years of insurance industry experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong analytical, listening, interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Professional demeanor with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Willingness to complete required educational and certification requirements, including LOMA 281 and LOMA 291 within the first two years of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Life insurance, annuity, or claims administration experience.
Medical terminology knowledge.
Contract interpretation experience.
Knowledge of insurance regulations and claims processing best practices.
