Full Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a leading employer in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, preparing routine accounting activity, and contributing to a dependable month-end close process. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, comfort working with financial systems and spreadsheets, and a commitment to accuracy in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial records.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure balances are properly supported.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities by organizing financial data and completing required account analysis.
Review accounting transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal financial procedures.
Use Microsoft Excel to analyze account activity, build supporting schedules, and prepare recurring reports.
Collaborate with internal departments to gather documentation, resolve accounting questions, and support financial reporting needs.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
2-3 years of relevant working experience, performing journal entries in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.
Working knowledge of general ledger structure and day-to-day accounting processes.
Ability to complete account reconciliations accurately and on schedule.
Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize and analyze financial data.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in handling financial information.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
