We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Engineer III - Quality (Electrical)
This position will be involved in the NPD (new product development) team to ensure product quality by reviewing, evaluating, and testing products to relevant product specifications and customer requirements; Collaborate with product development team to identify and address quality risks. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on product testing. Communicates results and proposes solutions for non-conformance. Support Katy Manufacturing and maintain the integrity of the Quality Management System for Mobile Cooling Solution.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
New Product Development and New Material/Process Qualification
- Lead quality planning, qualification, and development activities related to new products, new materials, new manufacturing processes, and engineering changes.
- Serve as the Engineer III - Quality (Electrical) lead for assigned product categories, ensuring quality deliverables are achieved throughout the product lifecycle.
- Partner with Product Development to ensure new product introductions are launched on schedule and meet Igloo quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
- Lead post-launch quality activities to monitor product performance and ensure quality objectives are achieved.
- Develop, execute, and document Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities for Active Coolers, thermoelectric cooling (TEC), and compressor-driven cooling products
- Own the electrical quality assurance, qualification, and failure analysis for our compressor-driven and thermoelectric cooling (TEC) product lines.
- Work with manufacturers to establish and execute rigorous quality control plans, test protocols, and First Product Inspections (FPI) focused on core electronic subsystems, including variable speed inverter drives, control boards (PCBA), power supplies, wiring harnesses, NTC thermistors, and digital control panels.
- Perform or work with manufacturer for validation testing—including high-pot (dielectric withstand), insulation resistance, thermal cycling, and functional reliability—ensuring that all active cooling systems meet precise internal performance specifications as well as global regulatory benchmarks (such as CPSC electrical safety, CE, and UL standards).

Leveraging your background in electronics, you will lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) using 8D methodologies for functional excursions such as compressor faults, PCB component failures, thermal runaway, and electrical noise.
Manufacturing Support
- Provide Engineer III - Quality (Electrical) support to manufacturing operations and serve as the primary resource for electrical quality-related issues.
- Investigate quality excursions and manufacturing issues, determine root cause, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop, maintain, and audit the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with company policies, ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), inspection methods, and testing standards to improve process consistency and product quality.
Quality Management System
- Responsible for developing, maintaining, and auditing Igloo’s Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with company, national / international standards and customer requirements.
- Develop and update procedures, WI, SOPs, forms, inspection and testing standards to standardize and streamline processes.
- Lead the efforts for quality related corrective and preventive actions
Continual Improvement and Data Analysis
- Lead quality improvement projects utilizing Six Sigma tools including poke-yokes, DOE analysis, Time Studies, ROI analysis, FMEA, Control plans, problem solving, MSA, and 8D etc.
- Drive process improvement through the use of quality tools and quality management system to identify improvement needs, work with a cross functional team to drive execution of key quality initiatives.
- Participate in product review and drive product improvement through working with Engineering, Manufacturing and Marketing.
- Drive improvements for inspection and testing method and equipment.
- Review and analyze statistical data to identify opportunities for improvements.
Hands-on Quality Testing
- Perform and oversee electrical and mechanical product inspections, qualification testing, and reliability testing.
- Develop validation protocols, testing plans, and technical reports documenting investigations, product qualifications, and engineering studies.
- Evaluate laboratory and field test results to ensure compliance with internal specifications and applicable regulatory standards.
Field Returns and Warranty Support
- Lead investigations of field returns and warranty claims related to electrical and active cooling products.
- Perform failure analysis on returned products and identify systemic issues affecting product reliability.
- Communicate findings and corrective actions with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customer representatives.
Training
- Mentor Quality Champions in quality principles.
- Lead efforts for quality management system training

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
A suitable background would be a solid experience within the following qualifications and experiences:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Industrial or related).
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years in a manufacturing/quality environment.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years in product quality in a cross-functional NPD setup.
- English language skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
- Math skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Physical Demands: Manufacturing and office environment.
- Work environment: Warehouse is hot and humid in summer months, cold in winter months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working Knowledge of Six Sigma Processes.
- ISO 9001 experience in auditing and implementing.
- Supplier Quality Background.
- Lean Manufacturing experience.
