Company Description
Evinex is a staffing firm focused on connecting the right people with the right businesses. This is a Direct Hire position for one of our prestigious clients in the technology solutions industry. Located in Monterey, California, our client specializes in commercial and residential smart dwelling automation, security camera systems, AV installations, and commercial networking.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, self-directed IT Technician to support, maintain, and troubleshoot networking, security camera, and connected technology systems for residential and commercial clients. This role is the front line of client service: diagnosing issues remotely and on-site, configuring and managing network equipment, and owning every ticket through to resolution and client sign-off.
We’re looking for someone who brings energy and genuine enjoyment of the work, paired with the professional maturity to work independently, communicate clearly with clients, and represent the company well inside their homes and businesses.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide technical support and resolve issues for clients via phone, email, remote access, and on-site service calls.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot managed networks (gateways, switches, wireless access points, PoE devices) — UniFi ecosystem experience is a strong plus.
- Support and troubleshoot IP security camera systems, video doorbells, and local video storage platforms.
- Troubleshoot Starlink satellite internet systems and general internet connectivity issues.
- Diagnose and resolve computer hardware, software, and connected-device problems on Windows and macOS systems.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments: user accounts, email, shared drives, and app access.
- Own tickets to completion — diligent follow-up with clients on all open items until resolved.
- Document issues, resolutions, and site details clearly and concisely.
- Monitor managed client systems and respond proactively to alerts.
- Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor with clients at all times.
- Collaborate with the installation team and other staff to enhance service delivery.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required
- Networking: Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, WiFi troubleshooting, hardwired networks, PoE, VLANs/network segmentation basics, and remote management platforms. Fair knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
- Operating Systems: Proficient supporting and troubleshooting both Windows and macOS. Server administration and Linux experience is a strong plus.
- Cloud Productivity Platforms: Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace (user management, email, permissions, and app configuration).
- Troubleshooting: Methodical, independent diagnostic skills — able to isolate root cause remotely or on-site before escalating.
- Customer Service: Clear, patient communicator who can translate technical issues into plain language and keep clients informed through resolution.
- Documentation: Able to read technical manuals and diagrams, and produce clear written records of issues and fixes.
- Professional Maturity: Reliable, self-managing, and accountable — able to run a service call solo from arrival through client sign-off.
- Adaptability: Eager to learn new technologies and adopt company-specific practices and standards.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in typical field-service conditions (ladders, equipment rooms, client sites).
Education / Professional Experience
- 5+ years of experience in IT support, networking, or a related technical field required.
- 2+ years in client-facing technical support roles.
- Demonstrated experience handling service calls independently.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in IT or related field preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Licenses / Certifications
- Valid driver’s license required.
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification is a plus.
- Ubiquiti/UniFi training or certification is a plus.
