Capria activates strong relationships between hundreds of founders and leading local VC firms in the tech hubs of the Global South – from Sao Paulo to Lagos to Bangalore to Jakarta. Capria brings state-of-the-art venture capital innovation combined with global best practices of sustainable ESG management to select and manage its portfolio of startups serving the fastest-growing economies of the world. Capria has offices in Seattle, Bangalore, Nairobi, Buenos Aires, and Washington DC.

About The Role

This is a unique opportunity to work with a leading venture capital firm to build innovative AI prototypes for our portfolio of next-generation tech companies across the Global South (India, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa) and for the Capria internal team. An ideal candidate will be excited to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, global startup environment, working closely with the operations team and with founders across the globe.

Examples of projects include:

Building LLM-powered question-answering tool that leverages semantic similarity search for team to use as an internal chatbot to query firm’s internal file system (questions like “What is our PTO policy?”)
Developing a smart filter system for an education technology company in India that enhances candidate selection by evaluating job applications and producing pertinent follow-up questions
Working with a HRtech company in Latam to implement a natural language interface that listens to conversations and suggests to call center agents potential Q&A to access in real-time.
Use off-the-shelf tools or develop solutions from scratch when needed to build and deploy AI agents that automate key workflows. One case could involve creating an agent for a company in Nigeria that, based on a conversation, autonomously triggers tasks like emailing team members responsible for next steps

Qualifications

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex and new AI challenges
Familiarity with software development practices, version control systems like Git, and agile methodologies is valuable
Exposure to back-end server maintenance and deployment
Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, techniques, and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
Experience or curiosity to learn tools to create agents (ex. relevance.ai, make.com or n8n)
Proficiency in Python
Experience in vibe coding and use of AI stack such as Claude code, Cursor, Codex, etc.
Experience dealing with Large Language Model APIs like those of OpenAI, Claude and/or Google
Being interested and finding value in a start-up environment or equivalent. We’re not a large firm – just like us, we’re looking for someone who is looking to get a lot done with limited resources and is looking to be challenged and interested in growing.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to explain technical concepts and updates to non-technical stakeholders
Thrives on managing hard challenges in ambiguous settings
Passion for learning and excitement for working with a variety of people and companies
Undergraduate degree in STEM, or an undergraduate degree or on job training with relevant dev training experience from a well-regarded coding school
Solid project management skills who is eager to advance their expertise further.
Willing to work odd hours to accommodate work with team members on US pacific time as well as with startups in everyone from Jakarta to São Paulo
Fluency in written and spoken English
