Steam Plant Mechanic

Seattle, WA | Contract with potential to be Permanent | Day Shift (Monday–Friday) | Union (IBEW Local 77)

What You'll Do

As a Steam Plant Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing critical plant equipment that keeps our steam production systems operating safely and reliably.

Your responsibilities will include:

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on boilers and auxiliary equipment
Weld, cut, fit, thread, and repair piping systems
Repair and rebuild valves, steam traps, pumps, and mechanical equipment
Clean and maintain boilers and plant equipment
Perform general mechanical maintenance throughout the facility
Assist with plant operations and provide operator relief when needed
Operate the Post Street Boiler when assigned
Follow all company and union safety procedures while maintaining a clean, safe work environment

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work in an industrial setting.

Preferred experience includes:

Steam plant, boiler plant, utility plant, or power generation experience
Industrial mechanical maintenance
Welding, pipefitting, and mechanical repair
Pumps, valves, steam traps, and rotating equipment
Reading mechanical drawings and troubleshooting equipment
Working safely in an industrial environment

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
City of Seattle Grade 3 Steam Engineer License
Valid Washington State Driver's License
Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated temperatures, and perform physically demanding work
Military veterans with experience as Boiler Technicians, Machinist's Mates, or Engineering Laboratory Technicians are encouraged to apply.
