The Role
Stratus® has recently partnered with Kestrel Engineering and we're hiring a Sr. Structural Designer. This role will be assigned as structural design lead for projects and will be responsible for coordination and ensuring effective communications with other engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
Lead the preparation of construction drawing and specification packages
With minimal supervision, assist engineers with equipment layout and structural design assignments
Provide familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company
Be responsible for preparation of general arrangements, structural design drawings and sketches utilizing 3D modeling software
Industrial structural steel design experience preferred but not required
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree in related discipline preferred. Candidates without a degree, but with exceptional experience, will also be considered
- Significant heavy industrial (Refining, power, chemical, etc.) design/drafting experience is required with demonstrated capabilities with equipment layout, and structural design associated with retrofit projects
- Candidates must be able to identify items (e.g., pipe supports, structural steel) in the field
- Demonstrated field documentation experience required
- High proficiency in using AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel. 3D design and modeling experience with CADWorx required. Revit & Plant 3D experience will also be considered
- Strong communication skills, with ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
- Capable of working directly with clients from proposal development through project execution
Preferred
- Previous consulting experience is strongly preferred
