Slo Food Market butchers utilize the whole animal, giving access to hard to find and unique cuts. Whole animal use in collaboration with our efforts to support our local Wisconsin farmers who embrace regenerative farming practices means you can enjoy better meat, less! Good for you and better for the planet.

Our butcher shop in downtown Sheboygan is so proud to bring an amazing selection of local-pastured meats and house made meats, and sausages, to our customers. We have a strong network of local suppliers for beef, pork, lamb, goats, turkeys, and chickens.

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Butcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry and a strong commitment to quality and customer service. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and packaging various types of meat while ensuring adherence to food safety standards. This role is essential in providing our customers with high-quality products and an exceptional shopping experience.

Duties

Perform meat cutting and preparation tasks, including but not limited to slicing, dicing, and grinding various meats.
Ensure all products are packaged properly for display and sale.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with their meat selections and answering any questions they may have.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely supply of meat products for food preparation.
Monitor inventory levels of meat products and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure the safety and quality of all products.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a butcher or similar role within the food industry is preferred.
Strong knife skills with the ability to perform various meat cutting techniques.
Knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Experience in food preparation within a restaurant or kitchen setting is a plus.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as required.
