Full Job Description

Job Overview

Contractor Nation is seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Motion Graphics Designer to join our growing, tight-knit internal video production team. In this role, you will breathe life into static assets, transforming complex home improvement concepts, training programs, and network initiatives into engaging, visually stunning video content.

You will collaborate with your video team peers, as well as the graphic design team, all of which will be facilitated by the video team's dedicated project manager. From local and national advertisement campaigns to internal training material and high-energy live event video content, you will utilize both Adobe and DaVinci Resolve pipelines to bring concepts to final delivery.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

Diverse Content Creation: Design and animate assets for a wide array of use-cases, from national advertisement campaigns, comprehensive internal training materials, and high-impact large scale live events.
Team Collaboration: Partner closely with the video team and cross-departmental stakeholders to brainstorm, conceptualize, and create high-quality video assets and content from scratch.
Hybrid Motion Pipeline: Build motion assets across toolsets, including traditional layer-based animation and node-based compositing workflows depending on project needs.
Template & System Creation: Create optimized, user-friendly Essential Graphics templates (MOGRTs) in After Effects to empower video editors to work efficiently in Premiere Pro, as well as shared macros or templates for the DaVinci workflow.
Storyboard & Layout: Translate abstract business concepts, marketing scripts, or live-event run-of-sheets into clean, intelligible storyboards and style frames to pitch to team leads and marketing coordinators.
Asset Management & Pipeline: Coordinate with the project manager to meet deadlines, and work seamlessly within our shared storage and project structures to keep files organized for the whole team.

Your Qualifications (Skills & Experience)Technical Proficiency

Core Software Suites: Expert-level command of Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Photoshop) and DaVinci Resolve.
Fusion & Node-Based Design and Compositing: Solid working proficiency in DaVinci Resolve's Fusion page for motion graphics, VFX compositing, and keying.
Advanced AE Workflow: Demonstrated proficiency in creating clean, user-friendly Essential Graphics/MOGRTs for Premiere Pro integration.
Expressions/Scripting: Experience using JavaScript to write and troubleshoot custom expressions within After Effects to automate workflows and templating..
Asset Utilization: Ability to work efficiently with vector and raster assets provided by our graphic design team, prepping them efficiently for animation across both layer and node-based platforms.

Production & Project Skills

Live Event Adaptability: The ability to adapt to the fast-paced, fluid scope of live event projects, both creatively and workflow-wise, under tight deadlines.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate easily with video editors, videographers, marketing coordinators, and project managers alike.
Experience: 2–5 years of professional experience, supported by a strong demo reel showcasing excellent pacing, storytelling, and compositing skills.
