Job Title: HVAC Service Technician
Location: Milford, CT
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Service Manager
Salary: Based on experience; includes benefits and performance incentives

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable HVAC Service Technician to join our team in Milford, CT. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing residential and/or commercial HVAC systems. This technician will provide exceptional service, ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely. The role involves both scheduled service calls and emergency repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

Service, Installation, Maintenance & Repair

Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including split systems, package units, boilers, chillers, and heat pumps.
Perform routine inspections of HVAC systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
Replace or repair defective parts such as motors, compressors, valves, switches, and controls.

System Diagnostics

Diagnose system performance issues using advanced tools and techniques, including refrigerant charging, electrical diagnostics, airflow measurement, and thermostat calibration.
Interpret and use blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications for troubleshooting and repairs.

Customer Service

Interact professionally with residential and commercial clients to explain issues, provide solutions, and recommend system upgrades or maintenance plans.
Provide detailed service reports, explain completed work, and obtain customer approvals when necessary.

Compliance & Safety

Follow all local, state, and federal HVAC codes and regulations.
Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety policies.
Properly handle and dispose of refrigerants and other hazardous materials.

Administrative & Technical Reporting

Complete daily work orders, timesheets, and service reports using company software or mobile apps.
Maintain accurate inventory of tools, materials, and equipment.
Stay up to date on manufacturer specifications and new industry technologies.

Requirements:

State of Connecticut journeyman or contractor license S or D category.
High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical HVAC training preferred.
EPA 608 Certification required (Type II or Universal).
Valid Connecticut driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Minimum 3 years of HVAC service experience in residential or commercial settings.
Proficiency with HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Availability for on-call rotation, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connecticut S or D HVAC license.
NATE Certification.
Experience with smart thermostats and building automation systems (BAS).
Familiarity with tablet-based service software.
