About the Position
As our HR Generalist, you will be a trusted resource for employees and supervisors and an important part of creating a positive workplace at The Hub on Smith. You will support the employee experience from recruitment and onboarding through employee relations, performance, compliance, and offboarding. You will help answer questions, solve problems, maintain accurate records, and ensure our HR practices are consistent, respectful, and aligned with our values.

Title: HR Generalist
Location: 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, WY 82801
Reports to: Executive Director
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Human Resources Generalist
Human Resources Administration
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to employees and supervisors across the organization.
- Administer HR policies and procedures and assist with updates to ensure they remain current, consistent, and aligned with organizational values and applicable employment laws.
- Monitor changes in federal and state employment laws and regulations and bring relevant updates or concerns to HR leadership.
- Assist with employee relations matters by providing guidance, documenting concerns, facilitating communication, and supporting appropriate resolution.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information and workplace concerns.
- Respond to employee and supervisor questions regarding HR policies, procedures, leave, performance, and other employment matters.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and appropriate departments regarding benefits enrollment, eligibility, and payroll changes, ensuring information is communicated accurately and timely.
- Participate in HR projects, process improvements, and organizational initiatives as assigned.
Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate recruitment activities in partnership with hiring managers, including job postings, applicant communication, interview scheduling, and required employment documentation.
- Support supervisors throughout the hiring and selection process and provide guidance on consistent hiring practices.
- Coordinate and facilitate new employee onboarding to ensure employees receive required information, documentation, training, and resources.
- Maintain accurate onboarding records and ensure required pre-employment requirements are completed.
- Coordinate employee separation and offboarding processes, including required documentation, exit procedures, and communication with appropriate departments.
- Assist with exit interviews and identify recurring trends or concerns for Executive Director.
Employee Records, Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential employee personnel files in accordance with organizational policies and applicable legal requirements.

- Maintain HR records, reports, and documentation related to employment status, training, leave, performance, and other personnel matters.
- Coordinate the annual employee evaluation process and provide supervisors with guidance, resources, and timelines.
- Track required employee training and certifications and maintain accurate training records and logs.
- Assist with administration and documentation of FMLA and other applicable employee leave programs.
- Support compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Participate as a member of the Risk Management Team and assist with maintaining incident and accident reports, documentation, meeting minutes, and required logs.
- Assist with workers’ compensation and unemployment claims as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure appropriate handling of employee medical and other protected information.
- Coordinate with appropriate internal departments and external partners when HR-related information or documentation is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Coachable and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience in human resources.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Experience working with older adults and people with disabilities.
- Effective communication, both orally and in writing.
- Computer skills, including the ability to learn and effectively use extensive
- Software and programs.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally transfer, lift, and position objects up to 50lbs.
- Frequently communicate and exchange information with others.
- Regularly observe and assess clients, staff, and volunteers.
- May be required to sit at a computer station for extended periods to complete essential job functions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience with a demonstrated command of the skills and abilities.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other HR certifications are preferred
