Job Overview

Immediate openings for 2nd and weekend shift (Fri, Sat, Sun)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this dynamic role, you will operate multi axis CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce steel components used in manufacturing for class 1 railroads. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential to ensure high-quality production standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining equipment, contribute to lean manufacturing processes, and uphold the highest quality standards through precise measurement and inspection techniques.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines using Fanuc or similar controls.
Develop and modify CNC programs utilizing G-code, M-code, CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming, and CNC programming best practices.
Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machining.
Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools for quality control purposes.
Conduct quality inspections on machined parts to verify conformance with specifications; document inspection results accurately.
Maintain tooling, fixtures, and tooling setups; perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment to maximize efficiency.
Support manufacturing processes by utilizing hand tools, power tools, grinders, welders, and other fabrication equipment as needed.
Follow safety protocols including proper use of measurement instruments like dial indicators and bore gauges; adhere to lean manufacturing principles for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines or CNC lathes with proficiency in CNC G-code programming and Fanuc controls.
Strong understanding of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, GD&T standards, and measurement techniques.
Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining.
Grinding processes, welding techniques, and tooling setup.
Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurement conversions and tolerances.
Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and bore gauges.
Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is advantageous but not mandatory.
Strong attention to detail with excellent hand-eye coordination; ability to interpret complex technical drawings accurately.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods; capable of lifting heavy materials using forklifts or hand tools safely.
