RITEC is an established aerospace and defense manufacturer specializing in rugged computing, networking, printing, and electronic equipment for demanding military and commercial aerospace applications. Our Simi Valley facility operates under an AS9100 quality system and includes engineering, manufacturing, machining, assembly, inspection, testing, and repair capabilities.
We are seeking a dependable, quality-minded Aerospace Cable & Electronics Assembler to join our manufacturing team. This position is ideal for someone with experience assembling cable harnesses, electronic equipment, mechanical components, or aerospace products in a controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble aerospace and military cable harnesses, wire assemblies, and electronic equipment.
- Cut, strip, crimp, terminate, solder, route, lace, and secure wires and cables.
- Install connectors, contacts, backshells, sleeving, heat-shrink tubing, labels, and related hardware.
- Perform basic soldering and electronic assembly work.
- Assemble mechanical components, enclosures, brackets, panels, and chassis.
- Read and follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of material, assembly instructions, and manufacturing travelers.
- Use hand tools, torque tools, crimpers, wire strippers, soldering equipment, and basic electronic test equipment.
- Perform continuity checks and other basic inspections or tests.
- Verify workmanship and completed assemblies against drawings and quality requirements.
- Accurately document completed operations, material usage, inspections, and discrepancies.
- Follow AS9100 procedures, ESD controls, safety requirements, and configuration-control practices.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Inspection personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in cable assembly, wire-harness assembly, electronics assembly, electromechanical assembly, or a related manufacturing position.
- Ability to read basic mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Familiarity with wire preparation, crimping, connector assembly, soldering, and mechanical assembly.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform repetitive, precision-oriented work while maintaining consistent quality.
- Ability to use common hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a manufacturing team.
- Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to workmanship and product quality.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, military, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or relevant cable-and-wire-harness experience.
- J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610 certification.
- Experience with aerospace or military connectors, contacts, backshells, and shielded cables.
- Experience using calibrated crimping and torque tools.
- Experience with soldering, cable shielding, bonding, grounding, labeling, and strain-relief techniques.
- Familiarity with ESD-sensitive electronic components.
- Experience completing manufacturing travelers, inspection records, and nonconformance documentation.
- Current certifications are desirable but not required for an otherwise well-qualified candidate.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand at an assembly workstation for extended periods.
- Ability to perform detailed work using small tools, wires, contacts, and components.
- Ability to lift and move assemblies weighing up to approximately [25–40] pounds.
- Sufficient visual acuity, with correction where necessary, to inspect detailed workmanship.
