ACCOUNT MANAGER – OFFICE & LIGHTING
Goods iQ · North Kingstown, RI · Hybrid · Full-Time
$65,000 – $95,000 DOE · Mon–Thu In-Office / Fri Remote
About Goods iQ
Some companies follow trends. We set them.
Goods iQ develops smart, innovative consumer products and we are relentless about ensuring they show up, stand out, and outsell the competition at every retail touchpoint. Our portfolio of iconic brands includes Bostitch® Office Products, PaperPro®, LockerMate®, PureOptics™ LED Lighting, and Spec Ops™ Tools. Behind every one of them is a team of makers, creators, and category disruptors who move fast, think big, and hold themselves to an uncomfortably high standard.
We run on honesty, collaboration, and a shared obsession with excellence. We celebrate the wins — loudly and often.
The Role
Own the customer. Own the number. Grow both.
Goods iQ is looking for an Account Manager to take full ownership of a portfolio of named accounts, carry the revenue and margin number against them, and open new doors where we have no history.
This is not an account maintenance job. You will inherit real relationships and be measured on how much bigger you make them, running the day-to-day with precision while spending a meaningful share of your week prospecting accounts we do not yet sell. You will represent the Goods iQ office and lighting portfolio including Bostitch, PaperPro, and PureOptics LED across retail, eCommerce, industrial, and distribution channels, working with product, operations, and marketing to build the plans that win shelf space and hold it.
Equal parts closer and operator. Comfortable negotiating price with a buyer in the morning and rebuilding a forecast in the afternoon. Reporting to a Vice President of Sales, with direct visibility to the executive team.
We hire owners, not order-takers. We need someone who doesn’t wait to be told what to do. You see a gap, you close it. You spot an opportunity; you build the case and act on it. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to, and each other.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management and Growth
- Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and other key decision-makers at assigned accounts, including S.P. Richards, W.B. Mason, CVS, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and independent office-products dealers.
- Develop and execute customer-specific account plans aligned with each customer’s objectives, category strategies, and growth opportunities.
- Drive revenue and market-share growth through increased category penetration, expanded distribution, promotional programs, seasonal offerings, and successful new-product launches.
- Identify and pursue cross-selling and upselling opportunities across the company’s office-products and lighting portfolios.
- Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and with prospective retail and wholesale partners.
- Maintain accurate and timely product information, content, pricing, and program details within customer portals and systems to support item setup, line reviews, new-product submissions, and ongoing account requirements.
Pricing, Promotions and Profitability
- Lead customer negotiations involving pricing, programs, terms, and agreements while protecting profitability and building strong, long-term partnerships.
- Develop and execute customer-specific promotional plans designed to increase sales, distribution, and market share.
- Lead annual and seasonal promotional planning around key selling periods, including trade show cycles, back-to-school, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Prime Day, Veterans Day, Black Friday/Cyber Monday, the holiday season, and other high-velocity retail events.
- Monitor customer and product profitability, identifying opportunities to improve pricing, promotional effectiveness, product mix, and return on investment.
- Analyze performance continuously and adjust account strategies to achieve revenue, margin, and profitability objectives.
Retail Merchandising and Point-of-Sale Conversion
- Develop retail merchandising strategies that maximize product visibility, shopper engagement, and conversion at the shelf.
- Partner with customers and internal teams to create compelling planograms, displays, promotional materials, and shelf standards that reflect category best practices and position Goods iQ brands as the clear consumer choice.
- Continually raise the standard of retail execution by developing breakthrough merchandising solutions that improve the customer experience and drive higher conversion.
- Monitor in-store execution across assigned accounts and establish feedback loops that support timely corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Use available shelf-level performance and conversion data to refine merchandising strategies, optimize product placement, and improve or eliminate underperforming displays.
Forecasting and Service-Level Performance
- Partner with Supply Chain, Sales, and customers to develop accurate forecasts and demand plans for base business, promotions, seasonal programs, and new-product launches.
- Monitor inventory, order flow, fill rates, and customer service metrics, proactively addressing potential supply or execution issues.
- Coordinate internally to deliver industry-leading service levels and consistently strong customer scorecard performance.
Performance and Analytics
- Track and analyze key performance indicators, including sales, margin, distribution, conversion, traffic, inventory, fill rates, promotional performance, competitive activity, and consumer trends.
- Translate customer and market data into clear insights, recommendations, and action plans that improve account performance.
- Prepare regular account updates, sales forecasts, performance reviews, and business presentations for customers and company leadership.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as the primary internal point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring clear, timely, and consistent communication across the organization.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, and Operations to execute customer programs successfully and resolve issues quickly.
- Coordinate internal priorities and resources to ensure the organization is fully aligned around customer commitments, growth opportunities, and performance objectives.
