Western Tidewater Community Service Board welcomes you to join our team!

Western Tidewater Community Services Board (WTCSB) is seeking compassionate and dedicated Clinicians to join our School Counseling Intervention Program (SCIP) in Isle of Wight County

As a SCIP Outpatient Clinician, you will serve as an in-school Mental Health and crisis Clinician within Isle of wight County Schools Systems. In this role, you will provide individual outpatient therapy, crisis counseling, group therapy, and staff support and psychoeducation. To ensure continuity of care, you will also continue providing services to your clients during the summer months at the WTCSB Smithfield Counseling Center located in Smithfield, VA.

Salary

Starting Salary: $51,969 annually

Salary may be increased based on relevant experience, education, licensure status, and other qualifying factors, up to the approved salary range maximum of $78,610 annually.

We are seeking License Eligible Clinicians, Supervises in Social Work, and fully Licensed Clinicians who are committed to supporting students’ emotional well-being, provide therapeutic family support, promote resilience, and foster a safe and supportive school environment.

Responsibilities and Duties for LE Clinician:

Direct Clinical Services:
Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of students.
Deliver crisis intervention and risk assessments when urgent support is required.
Develop and implement evidence-based, individualized treatment plans with measurable goals tailored to each student’s needs.
Utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities (e.g. CBT, DBT, etc.) to support emotional regulation, prosocial skills, and resilience.

Case Management and Collaboration:
Partner with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to create a supportive school environment that recognizes and promotes student mental health.
Provide clinical consultation and psychoeducation to school staff to strengthen their ability to recognize and respond to student mental and behavioral health needs.
Collaborate with families to reinforce therapeutic progress and connect them with additional community supports as appropriate.

Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including annual assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
Adhere to all professional, ethical, and regulatory standards including HIPAA and student confidentiality.
Regularly monitor and evaluate student progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated.

Prevention and Education:
Deliver psychoeducational groups and.or workshops on topics such as coping skills, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and mental health awareness for both students and school staff members.
Support prevention initiatives by contributing to and facilitating programs that reduce risk factors and promote positive youth development.

Professional Development and Team Involvement:
Participate in supervision, ongoing trainings, and team meetings to support professional growth and maintain best practices in school-based therapy.
Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration as needed, while maintaining a primary focus on direct clinical services.

Qualifications and Skills for SCIP Outpatient Clinician:

Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related Human Services field required;
Board approved LPC, LCSW, License Eligible, or Supervisee in Social Work Credential; recent applicants are also acceptable to apply
A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a human services field preferable;
Experience in a mental health setting preferable;
Valid current driver’s license and acceptable DMV record
