Full Job Description

Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital seeks an Emergency Department Phlebotomy Tech for their Emergency department responsible for rendering direct and indirect patient care under direction of appropriate licensed personnel. Facilitates care to meet patient's daily living activity needs by providing clerical, physical and emotional support while assisting licensed personnel in management of critically ill patients. Assists with workflow of unlicensed assistive personnel in the department. Performs blood procurement.

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:

Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS); Emergency (SBCH): California Emergency Medical Technician certification or CA Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedic Certification, or National EMT Certification. California Phlebotomy Certification; Emergency (GVCH) - hired after March 2015: California Emergency Medical Technician certification or CA Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedic Certification, or National EMT Certification. California Phlebotomy Certification; Emergency (SYVCH) - hired after May 1, 2013: California Emergency Medical Technician certification or CA Emergency Medical Technician– Paramedic Certification, or National EMT Certification. California Phlebotomy Certification.

Technical Requirements:

Preferred: Ability to use computer charting/electronic medical record & computer order entry.

Years of Related Work Experience:

Preferred: Patient Care Tech/equivalent experience in an acute care setting or ED or prehospital arena.

Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity.
