Sous Chef

Reports to: Executive Chef

Status: Hourly

Hours: Part-Time/Full Time

Job Summary: Being an ambassador for our thriving fast growing restaurant brand by playing a key role in assisting the Executive Chef in monitoring kitchen activities during service to contribute to the smooth operation, and ultimately meeting our customers’ expectations and satisfaction. Knowledgeable and team oriented to be able to step up in the Executive Chefs absence to oversee food preparation and lead kitchen staff.

Job Description

Functions and Competencies:

Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality.
Aid in cost-effective operation and profitability of food production

· Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary, and in perfect operating order

· Thorough knowledgeable on all kitchen terminology

· Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.

Excellent Knife skills

Knowledge of all health and safety standards
Knowledgeable and adherence to all standards of food safety, quality, preparation, and presentation in conjunction with the organization’s specifications
Monitor the stocking, storage operations and food rotation
Effectively aid in assign duties and training of kitchen staff
Taking charge of kitchen opening and closing
Ability to multitask and work quickly and accurately under pressure
Possess excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills and ambition for personal growth
The ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 50 pounds at a time.

Education and Training:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Point of Sale, and restaurant management software Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure.
Previous Sous Chef experience of 3-5 years minimum.
Certificate in Culinary Arts or related field preferred.
ServSafe Certification

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
