Full Job Description

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY

La Prima Casa Montessori is currently seeking qualified aftercare aides for the 2026-2027 school year. Please read the job description that includes a set of all job responsibilities for this position. Additional responsibilities may be added at the discretion of the administration.

Hours: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Summary

Guides the children in our Aftercare program, plans and directs long and short-range activities, and assumes responsibility for the safety and welfare of the students.

Leadership

Lead with enthusiasm, confidence, punctuality, and team spirit
Plan, prepare and maintain all units of study, lessons, and materials
Contribute to classroom and facility clean-up as requested by the school administration
Prepare and promote physical, music, and art activities
Call to attention of Administrator any students with special difficulties or needs and be prepared to discuss with parents.
Care for all classroom animals and plants
Promote healthy eating practices, encouraging grace and courtesy during meal times
Organize teacher planning days for changing out materials, cleaning, reorganizing works, and providing feedback and training as needed

Record-Keeping:

· Keep all appropriate records such as attendance, timesheets, observation sheets, etc

· Keep accident reports

Administration

If requested, provide monthly written updates to the Administrator
Ensure that the materials and playground are clean, safe, and maintained. Report any maintenance issues to Administration

Other Duties

Follow all regulations stated in the Employee Handbook

· Report any suspected child abuse immediately

· Attend in-service and staff meetings

· Meet all applicable licensing regulations

· Assist children to and from vehicles during arrival and dismissal

Promote the mission of LPC Montessori in daily interactions with families and the community at large
Seek and participate in yearly professional development activities
Maintain excellent regular communication with Administrator
Maintain knowledge of and adhere strictly to the relevant facility, local, and state procedures
Read and be familiar with LPC Montessori Parent Handbook, Employee Handbook, and other relevant facilities policy
Participate in facility events including occasional social events, a yearly Open House and Parent Education Nights. If requested, give presentations on Montessori topics.

Hours: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm Monday – Friday

Physical Requirements

· Frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

· Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close and distant range

· At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

· Fine motor manipulation

· Transportation time spent commuting between sites for meetings and trainings

· Must be able to lift and carry children to safety if needed

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Teachers must have:

Montessori Certificate (preferred, but not mandatory)
First Aid/CPR Training (required)
40-clock-hour Introductory Child Care training comprised of Part I and Part II courses (required)
5-clock-hour (or .5 Continue Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development, within 1 year of employment (required)
10-clock-hours of Annual In-service training completed between July 1 and June 30 each year (required)

Preferred Skills

National Early Childhood Certificate - Active National Child Development Associate (CDA) or other early childhood credentials that meets or exceeds the requirements of the National CDA and is recognized by regulatory agencies in at least five (5) states. Recognition is determined by the Department.
Formal Educational Qualifications

a. A.S., A.A. degree or higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development

b. Associate's degree or higher WITH at least six (6) college credit hours in early childhood education/child development AND at least 480 hours of experience in a child care setting serving children ages birth through eight (8).

Active Birth through Five Child Care Credential (Formerly the Florida Child Development Associate Equivalency Credential (CDAE)):

Active School-Age Child Care Credential (Formerly the Florida School-Age Certification)
