Position Overview
Works closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Operations Administrators to assist with project management, project schedule, quality control, document control, design management, and client relationships. The Assistant Project Manager may also supervise Project Engineers or Project Engineer interns.
Responsibilities
- Supports Project Manager to ensure total project delivery.
- Travel to jobsite(s) nationwide.
- Project Management – Assist the Project manager with procurement, administration, and enforcement of subcontracts, execution of change orders, maintaining updated insurance and bond information, risk mitigation, overall project safety, document control, communication between project team and subcontractors.
- Document Management – Update and maintain or supervise the Project Engineer in the document management process, including the maintenance of the project drawing and specification logs, distribution of document revisions to subcontractors and project team. Oversee the RFI process.
- Project Schedule – Update project schedules for procurement and construction phases, receive, review, and compile subcontractor 2-week look-ahead schedules as directed by the Project Manager.
- Quality Control – Receive and review product submittals, samples, and shop drawings, verify and document work in place, oversee system for project photos, help enforce requirements of contract documents and scopes of work, document and execute punch-list and occupancy phases, help facilitate a Lessons Learned session with entire project team at project completion.
- Design Management –Help facilitate weekly design review meetings, help prepare to submit a complete design and preconstruction proposal to Owner, help coordinate and communicate permitting requirements and schedule, work with design team to solve field-related conflicts and track lessons learned log.
- Financial Responsibility – Help review and approve subcontractor pay applications and miscellaneous invoices, help with the negotiation and management of subcontractor change orders, review monthly cost details.
- Safety – Follow and enforce all company safety guidelines, maintain all safety certifications, and is a model for safe jobsite behavior.
- Preconstruction Management – Assist in managing and overseeing bid solicitation, sub-contractor prequalification, quantity take-offs, material research, bid packages, scope development, scope reviews and comparisons.
- Client Management – Manage and/or oversee owner meeting minutes for accuracy and publish monthly project reports.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
- 2+ years’ experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or other related role.
- Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft suite programs; experience with Bluebeam and Procore
- Ability to work with others performing similar and/or support tasks related to project management
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to read and understand Construction Documents and general knowledge of design drawing
- Ability and willingness to travel or relocate as needed for projects
- Ability to practice safe personal conduct on active project sites
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to engage with and collaborate in a team environment
