Full Job Description

About Us

We are a family-owned Spokane Valley manufacturing business specializing in custom wooden crates, pallets, lumber, and related packaging solutions. We take pride in quality workmanship, dependable service, and long-term relationships with our customers and employees.

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Controller to manage our day-to-day accounting, payroll, and human-resources administration. This important position works closely with ownership and the management team.

Responsibilities

Manage accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, and customer account questions
Manage accounts payable, vendor records, purchase documentation, and payment processing
Process payroll accurately and on schedule using ADP's full suite of services
Maintain employee payroll, benefit, and personnel records
Administer employee onboarding, benefits, vacation tracking, and other HR functions
Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
Manage banking activity, cash flow, and financial controls
Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
Monitor budgets, expenses, margins, and company financial performance
Coordinate tax filings, year-end reporting, workers’ compensation, insurance, and outside accounting services
Support inventory, job-costing, and manufacturing-cost analysis
Maintain organized and confidential company records
Help improve accounting and administrative processes as the business grows
Ensure compliance with applicable payroll, employment, tax, and recordkeeping requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field required
Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, controllership, or financial management
Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general-ledger accounting
Experience with HR administration and employee benefits
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
Clear communication skills and a practical, team-oriented approach
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with ownership
Manufacturing, packaging, lumber, construction, or job-costing experience preferred

Compensation and Benefits

We offer an annual compensation package of approximately $80,000, including salary and benefits. Benefits include:
