Full Job Description

We are excited to share that we a part-time position (16 hours a week) open and available!

UGM considers every position one of ministry and a vital and valued part of our team. Therefore, it is essential that all employees of UGM have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and subscribe to our Statement of Faith and Core Values. Additionally, employees must be willing to lead and/or participate in Bible study, prayer, devotions and sharing the Gospel.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Resident Assistant is responsible for the supervision of all aspects of client services and house management within the Crisis Shelter for Women and Children. This individual communicates effectively with staff and oversees clients and volunteers while working to maintain a clean, safe and healing environment for all.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Result Area #1: Operations

Ensure the management of Crisis Shelter remains in accordance with UGM and site-specific central policies and procedures.
Train and supervise volunteers and desk staff throughout their shift; provide assistance with any high-level inquiries and decision-making.
Retain accurate database information: maintain reports and client information, update shift logs and communicate key information.
Attending all required UGM and site-specific meetings and trainings.
Complete components of the intake and exit process thoroughly.
Exercise vigilance when interacting with clients; administer random urinalysis and Breathalyzer tests as assigned.
Record all medications and over-the–counter, non-prescribed items checked in by clients.
Organize and restock supplies in all areas of client services; complete RFM’s as assigned.
Provide over-the-counter medical calls as needed, evaluate medical emergencies in the absence of a medical coordinator and ensure patient medication is available 24/7.
Approve job schedules for clients requesting accommodations.
Participate in the outcome-based management process.
Answer the phone and perform emergency intakes; check no intake list.
Assist late real-life workers with check- in and create an inventory list of items needing to be re-stocked.
Lead clients to self-evaluations as necessary.
Complete other tasks as assigned by Client Services Manager.

Key Result Area #2: Security

Ensure facility is safe and secure by monitoring cameras and performing security checks as assigned.
Verify alarms are set and doors are locked after hours.
Maintain proactive awareness of clients and monitor their coming and going from the facility; exercise awareness of suspicious behavior.
Confiscate weapons and paraphernalia and dispose of drugs.
Perform room checks and car searches as needed.
Hold healthy boundaries between clients, staff and volunteers.
Ensure awareness of emergency evacuation.
Notify leadership immediately following any violent or critical incidents.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Grounded and committed Christian: able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry to the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill.
Active member of the body of Christ, in accordance with the Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Able and willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to complete documents, build tables, and accurately record information.
Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and instructional.
Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, and strong work ethic.
Minimum 3 years sobriety, if in recovery.
Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license – required.
CPR/First Aid certification – recommended.
Yearly TB clearance – required.
Criminal background check clearance – required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

Work is primarily indoors and requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - continuously.
Requires a sustained level of emotional balance, patience, and tolerance for people and personal and management issues – continuously.
The ability to move about all the facilities on a regular basis – occasionally.
Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:

Computer skills; Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word and Outlook, Web-Browser, UKG HR, Waypoint.
Security equipment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma/GED.
Preferably two years’ experience working with low-income population.
Knowledge of chemical dependency addictions and process addictions.
Ability to recognize active use and misuse of legal or illicit substances.

Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in all the ministry activities of Union Gospel Mission.
Subscribe to Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith and Qualifications for Employment upon hire and continuously while employed.

Resident Assistant Expectations

Daily:

Ensure emails/phone calls are responded to within 24 hours.
Review Client Log Entries report within first 30 minutes of shift.
Review Bed availability within first 30 minutes of shift.
Check voicemail message is indicated. Resolve messages within 24 hours.
Communicate with coworkers regarding shared information for on-coming shift.
Utilize cameras while on shift for security purposes.
9:00 am Orientation is completed (Mon-Sat / 8:15 am Sundays)
UA/BA checklist is completed and correctly documented in Waypoint.
Rooms checks are completed. (1st floor daily between 8:00am-12:00pm / 2nd floor daily 7:00pm-8:00pm)
Med Call is completed – 8:00am, 12:00pm, 6:00pm
Accurately submit timecard – timely adjustments are submitted.
Demonstrate professionalism with the public – Guests, donors, visitors, and callers.
Appropriately utilize Waypoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate and document guest/facility related information.

Weekly:

(Bi-weekly) Attend and participate in RA meeting.

Monthly:

Meet with Client Service Manager for 1v1.
Attend Crisis Shelter All-Staff meeting.

Yearly:

Participate and attend UGM specific trainings (De-escalation, Life Languages, Retreat, etc.)
Participate and attend SWOT for the Crisis Shelter.
Participate in PDP with Client Service Manager

As Needed:

Correctly complete intake procedure with new guests. (waypoint, hot box, tour etc.)
Donations correctly processed.
Assist Client Service Manager with client follow up conversations asap or within 24 hours.
Maintain sign-up sheets at Blue Desk and ensure all activities are posted at least 24 hours before event.
Maintain Blue Desk Closet in a prepped and ready condition. (Totes ready, shelves stocked, communication of needed items
Participate in emergency drills.
Assist Client Service Manager with training volunteers at Blue Desk and provide feedback.
